The reason people were saying don’t forget fandom history isn’t because anyone thinks Stucky is the oldest MLM ship, or the biggest MLM ship, or the only MLM ship of its time. It’s because it was 2014 and gay marriage was still illegal. It’s because it was 2015 and MAGA was flying everywhere. It’s because it was 2016, people took to Twitter and trended #givecapaboyfriend. Mere weeks later, comics Steve Rogers was written into a Nazi.

It’s because it came at a turning point not just in superhero history but American history. MCU Steve Rogers was a return to a more sincere worldview after two decades of grim dark cynicism. The MCU, previously the domain of (mainly cis white) dudebros — you only have to look at the way Nat and Peggy were written in the early movies to know that women and other minorities, whether as characters or audience, were a distant afterthought — has gained traction with the mainstream audience. The advent of social media and internet accessibility meant a blossoming abundance of fan content that previous generations didn’t have.

This coincided with a time of intense ideological clash between progressive and conservative voices. Unlike what dudebros say, very few people believed the MCU would actually give Cap a boyfriend, but it did squarely place Captain America on the side of the LGBT community. Up until this point, MCU Steve in both canon and fanon has often been portrayed with hazy nostalgia for “the greatest generation” and the white picket fence dream. The hashtag trend was a reclamation of a character who was written by a minority, whose origin was a marginalised group for his time, and whose moral code was always supportive of people sidelined by history.

There will always be older ships, bigger ships, “more canon” ships, but you’ll never get another ship that rode the nexus of social media growth, genre popularity, LGBT recognition and political tug-o-war to breach containment the way Steve-Bucky did.

Don’t forget the history of #GiveCapABoyfriend, the BBC Steve-Bucky fan video, the “of course it’s a love story”, the “we went a little Brokeback” and the “Bucky is his home”. All of these were acknowledgement of the sheer size and international reach of the fandom. With a character many people thought of as the face of conservative America, it brought gay romance into the mainstream consciousness…and yes, without Steve-Bucky and several other concurrent massive MLM ships laying down the ground work, many of the newer canon gay romances would not have been green lit by profit-hungry studios.

I just finished watching blue, red & royal, and you know what? I'm angry that as always, I have ignored recs of movies and specifically, in this case, of book bc I somehow I always end up watching/reading them and loving them! Though, tbf had I read that book before as Tumblr recommended me to do so years ago, I would have lived in agony just thinking when the movie was going to finally be made and finished.

I do have to say that I watched some people say that the actors didn't have chemistry which I found that maybe it was due to the blond actor and his role in Cinderella which of course told me that those ppl hadn't watch Handsome Devril (one of my fav comfort movie of all time) and his amazing acting in it. However, their chemistry in the movie did not disappoint, and I was fascinated at how natural they acted.

I really like the movie, tho with some adjustments in lighting it could have accomplished a more 'aesthetic' or 'cinematic' look, but I guess they were going for modern, which fair enough. Also, the costumes and locations looked lovely, so kudos to the production (I'm writing all of this before reading the book, so)

There are definitely some points where I could use a little more of background info to connect in a deeper level with the characters and as I have seen some people say, I do completely agree that it would have been better to create a mini series.

Anyways I really liked the movies, and it's the right amount of emotional and comical -at least for me- to become one of those movies that you can watch several times. And adding into the actors, they are very attractive, like my two type of men literally, dark eyes, tan man, and blue-eyed blonde goofballs <3

It's 4am, and I'm about to read the book so I will come to my update on that between reading and once I'm done.

I have decided to make a comeback to tumblr which is hilarious because tumblr is more dead than it ever was when I left like 3 years ago and I feel like I'm talking to the void right now but there's no platform where I can post my thoughts in one simple format without having to cut every 100 characters or something like that.

Looking through my following list it's ✨️ funny -maybe not the right word- how some people vanished and never posted in their blogs again

Anyways even if no one reads my stuff I just wanted a space where no one know who I am but I can still something and put the million of thoughts that I have per second at least somewhere, I didn't use to overthink as much as I do now and I honestly think it's because I used to rant on here haha

I can't believe we had to say good bye to Steve Rogers' Captain America without any closure, without anything at all. He didn't explain why he chose to go back in time, he wasn't shown talking to Bucky about it, he didn't bother to tell Sam, heck Sam didn't even know it was the last time he was seeing young Cap, if there was atleast.. a little background that explained his ending, I would've had a little peace but they ruined everything and I'm still salty about the way they ended my baby's arc, Steven Grant Rogers deserved better than this. I hate the way they handled Steve's character but Y'all think Steve's Russos' favourite while only 'Captain America' is Russos' favourite, they didn't give two shits about Steve or his character development. All Clowns 🤡

Wtf is going on

Hey y’all film crew member here. For those of you asking, they’re running like that to stay out of the shot.  For us crew we TRY OUR HARDEST TO NOT GET FILMED. IT’S IMPORTANT. It’s like playing the floor is lava but with a side of “you’re fired” if you lose too many times.  We’ll do anythING to not be seen. Duck around corners, dive under tables, jump in the bushes, assume fetal position on the floor, climb trees, get in the robot, hide in the trojan horse, become a vampire, you fuckin name it.  My fav game while watching a movie is “guess where the crew is hiding in this shot” it’s great fun you should try it.  The only problem in this particular shot is there is nowhere to hide except behind the camera which IS MOVING REALLY FAST.  Why they didn’t just leave the room I have no idea. it could be any number of reasons. Time, lack of proper equipment, need to supervise/direct, etc.  The real question is how the hell did Gaga not fucking lose it seeing a herd of film nerds scamper desperately in circles behind the camera

GUILLERMO DEL TORO RECEIVES STAR ON HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME

06/08/2019

“As a Mexican, receiving this star is a gesture and no gesture right now can be banal or simple. This is very important this is happening right now because I can tell to all of you, all immigrants from every nation, that you should believe in the possibilities and not the obstacles. Do not believe the lies they tell about us. Believe in the stories you have inside and believe that we all can make a difference and we all have stories to tell and we all can contribute to the art and the craft and the world in any way we see fit.” - Guillermo del Toro
