The fact that I'm getting second hand info of like two separate video games and an anime... I love this site. I have zero clue whomst the hell any of these characters are, but I love that people I follow love them.

NOT ME YOU SLOP ARTIST
This is a close up? A CLOSE UP YA JERK! A CLOSEUP!
Alright, let’s get this picture started! (The End) NO NOOOOO!
One of the defining moments of animation history.
“Ain’t I a stinker?”
In Babylon 5, didn’t one of the non-humans think Daffy was the god of frustration?
Holy shit, this is nearly 70 years old. This would have been right on the heels of color television being commercially available to the public.
@amayatepes look at this
LMAO
Huh. That’s just a whole ass Daffy Duck cartoon.
Everything about this cartoon is top-notch. The timing, the animation (watch Daffy’s different walks) the art; this is a treasure
The creator of these images is Matt Bernstein, one of my favorite educators online -- he makes incredibly clear, forceful collections of information like this one. He's queer, has fantastic nails, and has done a lot of education recently from his perspective as a Jewish person on why supporting Palestine is so important. Here's a link to this post, which he created for World AIDS Day on 12/1/23.
This blog is four years old today. If this blog was a human being I'd be picking it up from daycare right now. Who allowed this to happen
Congratulations!! I am having an existential crisis 👍
lmaooo
We love to see it
Yes! All of them! It's not a defect, it's a design flaw! They made an accelerator pedal that can accidentally wedge itself down flat!
the way aragorn runs is so chaotic
@tathrin's tags have been vetted and approved
#that is a man who A: has tripped over his sword before and been laughed at by EVERY ELF IN RIVENDELL and is NOT going to do it again#and B: knows that he has more leg than anyone else in the room and is GOING TO USE IT BY GODS#he is COVERING GROUND with every step#he got that moniker of strider through HARD HONEST WORK (and very very big steps)#aragorn#lotr movies#viggo mortensen
#So basically. He runs like an actual real person would over uneven ground 😂#The Hollywood Run is pretty to watch sure but also takes place on a paved surface usually#There is no way to look dignified whilst running across lumpy bumpy ground down across a hill. Unless one is an actual gazelle#thankyou Mr. Viggo for that Real Human rep (saving @jonairadreaming's excellent tags because everyone who has ever tried running down an incline over uneven, possibly shifting, ground knows you try to get down there as fast as possible with the least amount of time of foot actually touching the ground and constantly being prepared to shift your weight to keep your balance. By the time the stones actually shift from your weight you already want to be two steps away)
I know next to nothing about the Addam’s Family’s greater canon, but the fact that Lurch is visually so strongly based on Frankenstein’s Creature makes me so happy, because it’s the happy ending the Creature deserves and I can so imagine it? You have the Creature at the end of the novel who is lonely and who has resigned himself that he will never be loved and that all humans will reject him on sight and then he meets the Addam’s Family and they are the first ones who don’t attack him or run away screaming - they either don’t say anything or even more likely, they are high-key excited about a Creature put together from corpses. That’s probably the highest Addam’s aspiration, to be more than 1 corpse. So they take him in and he has a family for the first time. What a crossover. What over-thinking on my part. I love it.
I’m going to add to this that because of the Creature’s line “I ought to be thy Adam”, many people irl nickname the Creature ‘Adam’ (being the first of his species) so if he were adopted by the Addam’s Family his name would officially be ‘Adam Addams” and I can only approve of that.
He’s not Frankenstein monster anymore, he’s the Adams monster. He’s theirs
it’s Adam’s Family :)
I'm re-reading the Discworld series for reasons, and honestly the most relatable part of reading these as an adult is how many of the protagonists start out being tired, used to their little routine and vaguely disgruntled by the interruption of the Plot. Sam Vimes wants to lie drunk in a gutter and absolutely doesn't want to be arresting dragons. Rincewind is yanked into every situation he's ever encountered, though he'd much rather be lying in a gutter too. (Minus the alcohol. Plus regretting everything he's ever done said witnessed or even heard about fourth-hand in his whole life.) Granny Weatherwax is deeply suspicious of foreign parts and that includes the next town over; Nanny has leaned into the armor of "nothing ever happens to jolly grannies who terrorize their daughters-in-law and make Saucy Jokes"
Only the young people don't seem to have picked up on this---and that's fortunate, because someone has to run around making things happen, if only so Vimes and Granny and Rincewind have a reason to get up (complaining bitterly the whole time) and put it all to rights. Without Carrot, Margrat, Eric, etc. these characters don't have that reason; they're likely to stay in the metaphorical gutter and keep wondering where it all went wrong or why anything has to change.
............well, that's not quite true. You get the sense that Vetinari knows how much certain people hate the Plot. And as the person sitting behind the metaphorical lighting board of Ankh-Morpork, he takes no small pleasure in forcing the Plot-haters specifically to stand up, and say some lines.
When you talk and act like a Russian asset,
i just found 12 bricks
new who: ew blood no thats too graphic
classic who: shoot him. and him. shoot him again. i feel like this is missing something... more gunshot wounds guys. cover him with blood. you know what, burn him alive. actually let's add a decaying corpse
this is cinema
Pause this on each screen, because there's stuff in here I wasn't aware of and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This isn't just cinema, this is free education and I'm grateful for it.
I took screenshots
tumblr put them in reverse chronological for some reason
BAD WOLF
The fact that Microsoft Word has to be a subscription is upsetting. I already paid for it why do I have to pay again
Yes please be mad about it, genuinely- You used to be able to purchase a single disk to install it and use it forever after that initial purchase of one key. It sickens me to see all this stuff which used to be a one time purchase be shunted under a subscription now.
"Why is pirating going back up?!"
This. This is why. People don't mind paying a high price for software if it's only the once, or every 4-5 years.
But having to pay a high price regularly? Especially in the cases where you lose access to your own work if you don't?
That's why people are pirating software.
It’s possible to buy a non-subscription version of Word; Microsoft just intentionally makes it very difficult to find (and also expensive).
However, I know a guy who knows a guy website: MS Office Pro for $50. If the link starts going to a Page Not Found, just search the site; they usually have some form of this sale available.
Worth noting: while $50 is still more money than $yo-ho-ho, that money is a great way to make VERY clear to Microsoft that we DO want one-time-purchase products, not subscriptions.
My laptop just died. If it can't be fixed and I need to replace it, this post is gonna be a real life saver, because my family has been sharing an old version of Word that came with a limited number of lifetime licenses, and we're fresh out.
Get LibreOffice. It's fully compatible with MS Office, but it's free and open source. You're welcome. :-)
one big thing i think people outside fandom (like, all fandoms, fandom in general, not any particular one) tend to misunderstand is they know it's a subculture of people who are weirdly deeply invested in fictional media, and they hear about drama caused by people in those subcultures being unhinged in not-fun ways, and they think the unhingedness comes from the fact of being overinvested in works of fiction.
which is a natural assumption, but in my experience that's not really the case? like in my experience the drama llamas in fandom are usually not the ones who are just genuinely very deeply into the fiction. i've known people who are basically thinking about star trek or x-men comics or supernatural pretty much 100% of their free time and ime that type of person is usually very nice and surprisingly functional in their regular life. when someone's a constant nexus of fandom drama it's usually not that they are obsessed with the actual work of fiction the fandom is about, it's at least one of the following:
- what they're obsessed with is not the source material but their unhealthy parasocial relationships with one or more of the people who created it
- what they're obsessed with is not the source material but some elaborate shared-universe subset of fanfic about it that's only barely related to the original at this point, and/or an esoteric reading-against-the-text reinterpretation of the source material (often if the canon is active and ongoing this leads to becoming actively hostile toward it for its inevitably increasing failure to conform to their preferred fanon)
- what they're obsessed with is not the source material but the fandom itself and gathering clout within it, so that the source material basically only exists to them as a tool for scoring points in increasingly arcane fandom disputes
and very often you get the same person doing 2 and sometimes even all 3 of these, and that's where the trouble really starts
