Jaime Lannister is only the Kingslayer because he killed a king to stop hundreds of thousands of innocents dying. He did it to protect them and King’s Landing.

And now Jaime Lannister is dead, having proclaimed that he never truly cared about the lives of the innocent, never cared about King’s Landing to begin with, and happily died in the arms of a woman he spent the majority of 8 seasons running from.

Character arcs should not be character circles. You should not end a story having a character exactly where they were in the beginning. It makes the middle part useless. It punishes the people who followed along and got invested.
