“Can’t I?”

The Ironborn stopped his pacing around the room. (Restless, hands clasped behind his back and brows furrowed as patience grew thinner.) His men were still clearing out Winterfell, rounding up its people. Theon didn’t trust them to watch the boys; children he could not and did not mean to harm.

“Bran has given up Winterfell to me. So I can.”

He watches Theon carefully. Any  comfort he felt around the other  before was gone now.      “I hope Shaggydog rips       your head off.”  His words are filled with all the rage he’s been feeling. 

If Shaggydog didn’t do it,  then Robb would surly  come and save them. 

The girl had been separated from Ethan while scavenging for supplies – Another group had come into the grocery store they were searching and the two had hidden. Talia was hiding behind a shelf when she heard footsteps approach…

She grabbed her knife, hand shaking. She was low on ammo, and wasn’t the best of shot  – she wouldn’t risk wasting any. She had been ready to attack when the one approaching turned around a corner –

It had been a    child   .  He was young, around Ryon’s age. She put a finger to her lips, as if she was motioning for him to stay quiet. She didn’t want to fight anyone, and if the kid could keep a secret… She wouldn’t need to be found.

Rickon knew strangers were  just as dangerous as the  zombies outside.  His heart was pounding  in his chest when he  sees her. She wants him  to stay quiet, he knows  that.      “who are you?”  He makes sure  he whispers so  his brothers can’t  hear him. 

     “ I remember you. “  He didn’t remember much  before the blood. He remembered Robb, and he remembered the  place he had been raised in. The  name escaped him now, but he  remembered the stones and the  scents.  She remembered Robb’s pack… This pup had been one of  them. 

He repeated the phrase again, this  time his tone wavering. His yellow  eyes were alight with shock… And  confusion. 

    “ I remember you. “ 

Rickon is afraid. The stranger  is here. Rickon isn’t good with  strangers. Not anymore. They were dangerous.  Rickon steps away, fear  in his eyes as he looks  up at the man. He doesn’t  know him.       “Are you going to hurt me?” 

he nods, moving to sit towards the center of the bed with rickon still cradled in his arms. it was up to him now to look after his little brother with their mother and father gone. “of course i will. i’d do anything for you.” the older pulls away from him just enough to get rickon to look at him. “when i leave, i promise i will always come back.”

He sucks in a sad breath.  He wants Robb to be there with him forever.      “I want Mother and Father       too.”  He knew they weren’t coming back. He doesn’t understand why but he knows that the  dreams he has are just dreams.  Father and Mother are gone,  they’d left him. Robb was here though. Robb was here and  Rickon was going to make  sure nothing ever happened  to him. 

          “of course. i wouldn’t go back           on my word. but that means           you must begin practicing more           often. and you’re not allowed to           skip any lessons for practice.” although he’s smiling, robb can’t help the wave of uneasiness that washes over him at the thought of rickon joining him in the wild. anything could happen to him. of course, nothing would touch his baby brother lest they went through robb first.

   “Okay! I will! I’ll practice      all the time!”  He can’t wait to hunt with his older brother.  He’d make sure he  was the best, then  he’d never have to  leave Robb’s side.

“Heel girls!”  The dogs stopped abruptly, barking madly at the figure. “Oy, boy! What are you doing in my woods?” 

He hopes Shaggydog  comes soon. He’d  been out hunting.      “Nothing.”  Hiding. Not to well since he’d been  found.

Torture Sentence Starters

( compiled of a few other starter sentence posts, only like 3 are mine )

     “nice shot, rickon. just a bit more      practice and you’ll be hitting the      center without a thought.”  he sits on top of the short, wooden fence, arm resting on the post as his eyes flicker around them until they stop on his brother once more.      “how ‘bout once you’ve hit the center      twice, you can accompany me on the      hunts? sound fair to you?”

   “Really? Will I get too hunt      too?”  He asks excitedly. Then he  could take Shaggydog. Him  and Shaggy could hunt  together.  He’d not ever hit the  center, not yet. He’d have  to practice a bunch. It’d  be worth it to go on a hunt  with Robb. 

There is anger in his eyes. She understood it… he might not know it, but she understood. She hated those who had taken those she loved from her. It wasn’t fair – it would never be. But how could she expect little Rickon to understand it? How could she ever hope for him to fathom how permanent death was.

  “   I know it’s not fair,        Rickon. I’m sorry.        There’s nothing I        can do about who        lives and who doesn’t  ”       If she could do anything       about it, Ethan would be       alive and Ramsay dead.        Her father and his father        would still be there and       Tywin Lannister’s head       would be on a pyke.

She wished she could tell him why. She wished she had a proper answer– but she didn’t. The god’s were cruel and terrible… If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be g o d s . She didn’t meet his eyes when she spoke/

Rickon let out a confused whimper.  He doesn’t understand. Life had  been quite unfair for a time now.  He’d lost so many.  He laid down on her bed instead.  Curling up into a tiny ball. He  stared up at Talia.      “Do you think Ryon will come       back? I liked to play with him.”  He knew not to mention Ethan.  He played with Ethan a lot too.  That was before the Bastard  of Bolton attacked them. He had  to hide during, if the Bastard  realized who he was, then  they’d be in more trouble then  before. That’s what Ethan had  told him. 

he can tell rickon doesn’t plan on loosening his grip unless he passes out against robb, so the older makes himself as comfortable as possible and continues to run his fingers  through his hair.     “do you want me to stay in here for     the night?” at this point, he thinks he can fall asleep anywhere ( besides, there was no way he could say no to his brother ).

Rickon closes his eyes for a  moment while he relaxes. He  feels safe with Robb. He hopes  that his brother really means  he won’t leave again.      “Will you?” 

He wasn’t letting go anyway.  Either Robb stayed or  Rickon went with him. He  wasn’t going to let go.

He bends down, picking up Rickon as he carries him back to his bed, sitting down with the other still held in his arms. Robb shushes him softly, rubbing his back  soothingly, as their mother had done to him so many times.      “It’s alright, Rickon. I’m here, and I’m not      leaving you, okay? Everything’s okay.” Fingers brush through his hair gently,  continuing to shush him quietly, albeit he sounds exhausted seeing as it’s the middle of the night.

He sniffs, burying his face  into Robb’s shoulder. He  had nightmares a lot lately  now. He was so scared of  being alone now. Terrified  actually. It brought a pain  to his chest.      “Okay, Robb.”  He whispers.  Still, he clung tightly  to his brother. He  didn’t  want to let go. Robb said  he was staying, but he  wanted to make sure he  would. 

“You’ve got to relax more, Rickon. If you relax you’ll be able to control where your arrow goes, and you won’t have to look for it. He’s proud of him nonetheless, rushing forward to help him find the arrow, only to pull it from the wooden fence a few paces back.  Robb easily plucks it from the wood, returning it to his brother with a smile. “Try again. Relax, take a deep breath, keep both eyes open, and release it. I want to see you hit the target.”

Rickon takes the arrow from  Robb, smiling as he does.  He moves back to where he  was standing before.  He gets the arrow lined up again,  taking a deep breath before he  lets the arrow fly again. He doesn’t  hit the middle but he still hits the  side of the target.     “I did it!”  He says excitedly.
