For purposes of my mental health, I usually take a few weeks off social media to focus on other neutral shit. Sometimes I come back to more of the same and sometimes I come back to...well...a lot
Here's my take on jikook stuff that happened while I was gone
- What Jikook wrote about each other
Typical, cute, expected. I didn't think they'd declare things about each other we didn't already know but their sentiments were nice nonetheless.
I think it's impossible for these two to remain mad at each other. When I saw the Vmin unit bomb, I was more convinced than ever that they fight a lot more often and they actually work harder to reconcile. But when I heard this glimpse into how Jikook fights go, I thought things. Like; I highly doubt JK has it in him to go so long without being on ok page with Jm. I know they may fight and it may go on for a while but I don't think it's the let's not talk kind of fighting. More like I'll give you space but I'll also ask if you've eaten kind of fighting. I don't think they completely ice each other out like bff's vmin would do.
I'm telling you this. Jin set the mood for what BTS would be like straight into debut. As the oldest, according to idol group culture, it's easy to see the oldest one's personality in the dynamic/ character of the group. Case in point; Jonghyun of SHINee was reserved but funny and light herated so the group was also like that. N of vixx is very sophisticated and reserved and yet kind and mischievous. And that's generally how the group is even in their music videos they come off as very sophisticated. Xuimin of Exo is also a good example because he's so free and funny and it did set precedence for how the group would be like him.
What I'm trying to say is that a group follows where the eldest leads in terms of atmosphere and Jin is just a darling. His attitude in completely letting the members do whatever and encouraging each one by relating to what they needed makes the group how it is.
What's this got to do with Jikook you ask?
My lovely Seokjin who unknowingly sets the mood for Bangtan goes ahead and unknowingly turns this Jikook fight and makeup story into such a cringe fest, I watched them while cringing myself.
I didn't even think it was such a big deal until my lovely WWH starts flapping about wishing he didn't have to be listening to this. And then everyone is secondhand embarrssed and failing to contain how private they think this should be. You know, they could have been curious and showed genuine interest but no. The rest of the members were the MVPs of this narration. All I got from the story was that Jikook fought, Jk got lost trying to find Jm who had stormed off into the rain and then called apologizing and crying– cute.
But the members gave me this vibe that they probably didn't think Jikook should be saying such private things about their relationship like that. They failed to act like this was just another fight friends have. They failed to mask their discomfort and failed to play it off as a joke. "It's like something a couple would do" or "It's like a drama" Damage control that didn't quite work because Kim Seokjin has a low tolerance for cringe and secondhand emabrassment.
