Wow I haven’t opened this thing in a very, very long time.

I hope everyone is well :) this is not my return to this platform (I’m sorry 😭) but I’ve made friends on here a very long time ago and just wanted to post this for anyone wanting to reconnect.

I went pretty quiet on socials for a while. Life stuff ya know. But I’m starting to “e-journal” again lol. For anyone that wants to find me I’m imsecretlyaplant on IG. I don’t have any fish projects right now but those are probably gonna change eventually and aquariums will reenter my life at some point. I’m a boomer now so ima see if I can leave a link below….

see y'all around 🤗

300 OVERHAUL!!!

Done :3 It’s about 80% planted I just need the Marsilea to carpet the front and some more stems for the right. I can’t wait for the stems to grow to the top and just for the plants to fill in in general.

300 OVERHAUL!!! Can you name all the plants in this tiny portion of my 300??? :D Plants are in. Tank is filled. Filters running. Only problem is my new lights are WAY too close to the surface and its pretty much an aquarium rave cause of all the different color LED's. Also if you can name all the plants, scientific for coolness, then I'll love you lots lol.

300 OVERHAUL!!!

And the hardscape is done!!! Finally. It took me literally 12 hours to take out old sand and put in new substrate and level everything out and put in dividers to make the scape taller and then the rocks and wood but here is something closer to being done lol.

The plan is its going to be planted and filled tomorrow. Hopefully. I’ll be buying plants tomorrow so it has to be done tomorrow.

Also, dont mind how dirty the tank is i was too lazy to clean it off for pictures.

Edit: i really wanted to make this scape taller but my canister filter is drilled into the bottom of the tank on both freaking sides so that limited me.

Stunning hardscape! What are you thinking of doing for fish this time around?

Thanks :D Alot of small. I wanna utilize how long this tank is so my goal is to have only small community fish to emphasize the size of the tank. Def gonna try to get a school of Gold Neons I love those. Coral Red Pencilfish. Cories. Rummynose and Cardinal Tetras. LOTS OF APISTOS. Rams. All those tiny Rasboras. I really don't want to get anything that gets larger than 2.5 inches.

hi i saw you use natures care- i have the same thing and i was disappointed it had perlite. are you not bothered by the perlite or do you like.. pick it out?

Perlite in organic soil mixes are fine. It's pretty much just tiny porous rocks. I am actually planning on washing it out of the soil as it just floats to the top. Im doing it to also get out any wood chips and other floaty stuffs. Im not taking it out cause it's "toxic", which it's not, I just don't want to deal with small floating balls later on lol.

300 OVERHAUL!!!

got these beautiful pieces today ;)

as for rock im not sure if I wanna do all lava rock for uniformity (mostly cause I just have a ton of lava rock) or lava rock + seiryu stone or dragon stone. Or just completely seiryu stone or dragon stone.

edit: its gonna be all lava rock lol

300 OVERHAUL!!! The aftermath. Waters down to the sand. All the fish are out. All the plants are out. Now I just have to figure out how to take out this giant 4ft long, 1ft wide piece of malaysian driftwood :)))

BIG NEWS

So everyone remembers my 300 gallon tank right? It's planted and such but the system itself cannot support super lush demanding plant growth, so I've always been restricted to easy plants. I am actually planning on completely redoing the 300 and upgrading the light system, switching out the substrate to something more plant friendly (currently just sand), completely redoing the hardscape, and restocking it with new fish. It's going to be a completely new tank and I'm aiming for Takashi Amano level. If this were a 10 gallon... I could do it in 30 minutes lol. Wish me luck. I'll record the journey here as it happens c: sorry for the hiatus guys but I think this will put me back on Tumblr.

I have SO much to update you guys on. First off, I want to apologize for my lack of activity. The last couple months have been CRAZY. But I guess I'll start with this. I no longer work at FG Houston, I left that place to pursue my own endeavors. I have been planning and am currently working on my own project. Yes it is fish related. I made a couple posts but I'm in the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston and I'm doing what I'm in school for. It's terrifying and exciting and something I may need help with from you guys pretty soon. Anyways. That's all I wanna say for now. Things are in the works. Stuff is going somewhere. Hopefully I can update you guys sooner than later.
