The Usuerper’s Ball
Midday was when the ball had finally been announced. King Knight himself was more than anxious as to what events would play out. Despite this being his ball, the last few parties he’d attended didn’t… go that well. There was only minor hope that this would be his salvation to a quickly depleting self confidence level.
Though, if there was anything to reassure himself things would go smoothly, it was his ability to live up to his rumors. “Dressed to the nines” being one of them.
He was not in his armor, for once, but instead worse his tunic with a green and golden waist coat. One could say he was slightly dressed too closely to another Knight, but more than likely, they would not live past slipping the name out.
Along side the tunic top and waistcoat were simple leggings accompanied by, surprisingly enough, black silk boots. A large and very surprising lack of gold was on the King. Though, he still wore his cape and crown in fear he’d “blend” amongst the crowd. After all, this was his party. If anyone was going to look flashy, it would be him.
Without his helm, however, everyone would be free to see his face. Soft shaded pink lipstick and blush had been applied to his face. Simple and sweet, matched with his hair which was merely brushed down. His curl hadn’t been done. What a twist.
As for the state of the castle, aside from nerve-wrecked chefs racing too and fro to place snacks upon snacks on tables in the dining area, the main throne room was the least heavily guarded.
Two Knights stood by the throne to ensure no one but the King’s rear would sit upon it. There were jokes about placing their own behinds down while the King was away, but overall, none of the Knights in the main throne room dared go past anything more than a playful joke. The fear that King Knight would somehow sniff out their dirty bottoms that tainted his seat kept them at bay.
Only three rooms would be accessible, spare a few guest bathrooms. The rest were closed doors, but that wouldn’t say some Knight’s would be hiding in side them as well, taking their turns having breaks from roaming the hallways.
The dining room held a feast fit for such an occasion. Several tables longer than necessary held trays of treats galore, seats left waiting to be sat on and various wines left unopened, waiting to be drunk.
The throne room would be the greeting area, where King Knight was standing in front of his throne, ready to receive gifts- should anyone have gotten him such a thing.
The final room seemed to have been something before hand, but cleared out to become the parties ballroom. Typical chandeliers have been checked to ensure no party guests would receive injuries from them dropping unexpectedly. All three rooms had green torches flickering, and while the ballroom was empty, instruments were left in a corner, ready to be played by servants once things have picked up a pace, and a hat meant for tips to be collected was left next to a rather large harp.
For now, the King waited. He’d had this planned for days ever since he overthrew the nearby King of another land. Surely the first guests would be arriving shortly… right?
