CLARY’S POV (Because The Mortal Instruments is life)

Gross.

…….is the first word that comes to mind if you asked me to describe the situation I’m currently in.

What’s the situation, you ask? Picture a tall blonde running through a shopping center IN HEELS, with a pancake maker tucked under her arm, and five, maybe six, security guards chasing after her.

Hey, don’t give me that look, I did it for the vine!

“Ma'am, we have you surrounded. Hand over the waffle maker, and nobody gets hurt.” A short and, erm, round, security guard informed me as I was backed into a corner by a bunch of his panting, sweaty comrades.

Hm, perhaps this place could use better security?

“First of all, it’s a pancake maker. Get yo facts straight, son!” I decided to go all gangster on him, because I’m cool… right?

“And second, NEVER!” I screeched as I ran through a small gap in the cluster of out of shape gentlemen. I grabbed a cane that was oh-so-conveniently close by, then hopped on to the roof of a passing hot dog cart. I shooed the owner away with my stick, then used it like an oar to propel me away at LIGHTNING SPEED.

Just kidding, I probably went two miles an hour, tops.

So yes, they caught me. I was brought down to the police station, and now I’m in a holding cell, I think, waiting to sign some boring papers.

“Hey.” A male voice pulls me out of my mourning of the pancakes that could’ve been.

“Oh, sorry dude, I didn’t even notice you were in here. Sup?” I grinned at the guy in here with me. He has nice, dark hair, and I really wanna touch it.

“Oh you’re American?” I nod. “Cool. What’s your name?”

“Clary. What about you?” Wow, this conversation has been surprisingly normal.

“Cal. What are you in for?” Welp, there it is.

“I’d like to preface this by saying that the only reason this happened is because I love pancakes unconditionally, and this is the first crime I’ve ever committed. Wait, no, that’s a lie…….”

***Explaining wtf just happened aye***

“….and that brings us to now.” I finished my story, grinning as I saw Cal wipe tears of laughter out of his eyes. “So, what about you?”

“I may have been doing a YouTube video where I played a prank on a stranger that I was stealing his car. It, uh, didn’t go over too well.” I giggled at Cal’s response.

“Are you still gonna post it?” He nodded affirmatively, and at that I couldn’t control the burst of laughter that escaped me.

“What’s your YouTube channel? I have to see it.”

“Callux. C, a, double-l, u, x.” I made a mental note to look it up as soon as I got out of here.

Suddenly, a police lady unlocked the door to our little cell. “Clary, you’re free to go. You just have to sign some papers first.”

“Called it.” I muttered under my breath as I stood up and dusted off my pants. I turned towards Cal. “Good luck, Cal. Thanks for making this fun. See you ‘round?”

“Cheers.” He smiled and waved as I walked out. ( A/N - wOw so British)

He seems nice…..oh gross, gotta sign papers.

"What, you don't enjoy it?" Preston, one of the popular kids, inquired. I shook my head.

"Just because I'm good at something meaningless doesn't mean I like doing it." Preston laughed at my reply. Before I could walk away and end the bizarre social interaction, he grabbed my arm firmly.
