Montreal, Canada – Human rights advocates are accusing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government of misleading the public over weapons sales to Israel, which have come under greater scrutiny amid the deadly Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
At issue is legislation that prohibits the government from exporting military equipment to foreign actors if there is a risk it can be used in human rights abuses.
But regulatory loopholes, combined with a lack of clarity over what Canada sends to Israel, have complicated efforts to end the transfers.
Dozens of Canadian civil society groups this month urged Trudeau to end arms exports to Israel, arguing they violate Canadian and international law because the weapons could be used in the Gaza Strip. [...]
But advocates say this misrepresents the total volume of Canada’s military exports to Israel, which totalled more than $15m ($21.3m Canadian) in 2022, according to the government’s own figures. [...]

Petition e-4745 is still active - it closes on the 19th this month but it should do something at least. It's an arms embargo on israel and it also includes checking for loopholes with the u.s. sending weapons as well. This would significantly help, and currently is being possibly shadow banned on instagram any mention of the petition either through automoderation or the banning of sharing news articles in canada on instagram. Please sign it & remember to check your email so it goes through.

Hey guys, if you’re a fan of what I do, what I make, or even just casually like me as a person, please… consider donating to my ko-fi.

Jewel, the beautiful tabby you see above, is on her death bed. My mom doesn’t think she’s going to make it to the end of the week. She’s down to less than 5 pounds, she hasn’t been able to gain the weight back after she lost it last year. She’s not eating or drinking, and she’s not walking much.

This cat is my mom’s best friend, and in her own words, her furry soulmate. Jewel’s been a part of our family for over 10 years, and was a rescue from a local shelter in our hometown. She’s lived with us in four houses, numerous super bowls, and enjoys HSN. More than anything, we want to be able to make her final days comfortable, and I want my mom to be able to have her ashes.

Any donations to my ko-fi are going to go to paying for her cremation, or if we can afford it, end-of-life services.

I’m gonna drink the red From your pretty, pink face

I’ve been wanting to do this photoset for AGES, and I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a wireless shutter button, exclusively to do this shoot. Of course it’ll come in handy in the future, but this set was the motivator.

It’s so strange that Adventure Time is over. I have so many cherished memories of the show, and I really wish that I had actively stuck with it until the very end.

You might not have seen much of it, but we’ve been busy as bees around here!

While we’re relocating and prepping for Megacon, we thought we’d bring you some of the other things we’ve made in the past year!

First up is this multi-panel dress, maybe from iridescent purple-to-blue dupione fabric from Yaya Han! This dress was made for @spellementary for a Lost Light Rodimus costume that he wore at TFCon Toronto! We also constructed the helm, which was 3D printed in PLA, and painted with our favorite Martha Stewart craft paint. They were an ideal match, and went nicely with the color palette for Rodimus!

We found that the dress didn’t hold up very well, and the fabric frayed a dangerous amount. So while a beautiful final product, we don’t really intend to work in this fabric again.

Ready to go whole hog?

Designed for SuperCon last year, this dress was a labor of love done in an incredibly short time frame. Featuring a 3D printed hook and a hand painted tattoo, the suede is nearly the same color as the wearer!

Josh Petersdorf actually got to see the dress, and loved it!

On a budget of 50$, it was hard to accomplish exactly what we wanted for Padme Amidala’s lake dress, but for our budget we’ll never stop loving this dress!

Made from Casa Collection fabrics from Joann, this dress consisted of three separate dye sessions, and was worn for MegaCon 2017 by @spellementary
