I've been ordered by my lord to escort his ladies to Edo. I'm sorry, but without a permit, no lord or his retinue may leave Osaka Castle. It is Lord Ishido's order. You leave me no choice.

Do you know how hard it is to do this while standing still.

Do you know how hard it is to do this while doing something incredibly physically demanding.

Sound on.

So shook that I recognized them! That's Khadija Mbowe, a brilliant video essayist on youtube. Here's a link to their channel. They're brilliant and compassionate. Go check them out!

the ending of dune 2 is like if the godfather ended with Kay walking out of Michael’s life after the door closed and in this essay I will

This!! I said the same thing when i watched it again. Literally, the equivalent to that scene setting up what their issues will be moving forward all through visual storytelling.

The Godfather: Michael lying to Kay right before she leave's cementing now that he is fully gone and commited to this new life he was so against at the beginning. After she leaves, their placement in the frame says so much. We see past her that Michael is by the door and one of his men closes the door. Kay is forever locked out now and that is to be her life moving forward as is wife.

Dune: Everyone else bows except for Irulan and Chani showing where Chani stands when it comes to the Messiah. She is still his equal and he is accepting of this. Paul still views her in this way. He is closer to Irulan on one side and Chani far away on the other but still standing between two women who he is caught between, one for politcal reason's only and the other the love of his life whom he wants to be with. Two different paths. He looks at Chani and hope's he still has her. It's clear who his heart belongs to as he waits for her response and Irulan notices all of this (although she was picking up on it earlier too). Irulan's situation just got even more complicated by this being revealed (especially if they have to provide an heir to strengthen his claim to the throne). A devastatd Chani then walks out and Paul is equally devastated by her choice to leave him.

There are even some parallels between Michael and Paul accepting responsibility and a role they initially didn't want but reluctantly accept because of the circumstance. I could go on and on.

Either way, such beautiful work in both films! ✨️
