At first, the military wanted to reinforce those areas, because obviously that’s where the ground crews observed the most damage on returning planes. We have higher rates of mental illness now? Maybe that’s because we’ve stopped killing people for being “possessed” or “witches.” Higher rate of allergies? Anaphylaxis kills, and does so really fast if you don’t know what’s happening. Higher claims of rape? Maybe victims are less afraid of coming forward. These problems were all happening before, but now we’ve reinforced the medical and social structures needed to help these people survive. And we still have a long way to go.

What’s going on in Sudan?

Basically, last December the Sudan government decided to make cuts to bread and fuel, which lead to protests. At a certain point protestors wanted to get rid of the president (because he was a bad president) and its government altogether. In April of this year the demonstrators forced the president out and a military council came in. They reached an agreement to have a 3 year period to disassemble and rebuild a new government, but on June 3, the agreement was thrown out the window and all hell broke loose. A lot of innocent people are either getting kidnapped, arrested, raped, or killed, but western media wasn’t covering any of it. So the people of Twitter (I believe) are trying to get it go viral because the Sudanese people can’t. 

Hopefully, this makes sense to you. I’m still trying to learn more about it myself. This post explains it so much better than me.
