Lucifer is my Co pilot

Spent the morning on some of the best backroads in Northern California. A car enthusiasts wet dream, linking sweeping turns and heel toeing between 3rd to 2nd followed by the punctuation of the raspy exhaust notes of three air cooled 911s in the canyon. As I accelerate, I could feel the rear of the car gingerly breaking traction laterally in concert to the calculated counter steer and repeated over and over. You just can't drive there without a big ass ear to ear grin.

I know its weird to be sentimental about gear but this brought a major tear to my eye. I bought this Nikon F3HP new in the late 80’s and used it thru college shooting for the college paper as well as freelance assignments when I use to shoot for rock climbing magazines and out door adventure.  Back then it went with me (along with 10# of glass) everywhere.  When I graduated, I bought a Leica and passed the Nikon on to one of my best friends, Michael.  Life drew us apart and the Leica became my new companion, it traveled with me to Europe with my now wife, it captured the birth of our children and documents my life.  A mystery packaged appeared today and curiously I noticed Michaels address on the return label.  Contained within was a note stating he had seen how much my son @kylewolfe_ and I had been photographing together and wanted to return the F3 so we could put it back in service as it deserved.  Although dented and brassed from faithful use, it works as it did the day I unboxed it.  It will be a part of our family forever and I will seriously be torn which camera to grab each day I walk out the door.
