I've been completely forgetting to post all of my monthly patreon rewards... so here's a few of them from the past few months!

The party gave Simeon a spa day makeover, so I figured it was a nice excuse to draw him a new outfit for arc 3 of the campaign! He may be down an eye and the use of his dominant hand, but he's now gainfully employed, so he has to dress the part!

Just in case any of you remember Simeon, the absolute cockroach of an assassin that's managed to survive almost three arcs of a D&D campaign where he was supposed to be a throwaway npc that dies in the first session, and managed to date and subsequently break up with the party bard... he's uh. he's been going through it.

I wish I could give you concrete advice, it's tough out there in this industry... but I fear my trajectory was pretty unusual and mostly based on luck.

I don't have any background in art besides doing it as a hobby - I actually graduated as a psychologist. So... I suppose at the very least I can tell you that an art degree isn't a must if you're willing to work hard and learn on your own, and driven enough to want to improve. I think I'm the only person on our art team that didn't do art related studies, and yet my technical knowledge is one of the things I am most confident in and an area where I often support my coworkers. So yeah... a costly degree might not be necessary for you, imo.

I sent out my portfolio to all 2D game companies in Belgium after I left the field of psychology and started working as a graphic designer, just to let people know I was out there in case opportunities opened up... A few months later I was contacted to do a freelance project for Rogueside, and then offered a fulltime position as an artist by the time I finished it. After a little over a year as a 2D artist I took on the title of art director as I was pretty much already performing those tasks by that point anyway... and that was that!

Just a quick test of some new brushes on a new D&D character I've been spinning around in my head like a rotisserie chicken. I somehow ended up channeling some truly off the charts levels of Alfred Molina In Spiderman Two for his design

There's nothing I love more in D&D than fucking with my players and having npcs do dramatic heel turns, but in a recent session they did it to themselves when THEY INVITED THE BAD GUY I had previously introduced as a random insignificant background npc (in disguise) to... come fight one of his own lieutenants... Lmao.
