i can't vibe with anyone who thinks icarus was an ignorant idiot for flying too close to the sun. "oh i'd never do that i would have remembered my father's warning and been fine". do you seriously think that after years of imprisonment, feeling the sun on your face and the open air beneath your wings, you would be able to focus on anything but the joy of being alive and free? do you actually think that if you were given the opportunity to go where nobody has never been before, you wouldn't want to push it to the limit? to dare to be the first to try what no one else has ever even thought possible? do you honestly think you're too good for your own human nature? look me in the eyes and tell me if i strapped a pair of wings to your back that could take you wherever you wanted to go whenever you pleased that you'd be careful and sensible about it. you are not better than icarus just because you have the benefit of his example.

Well two of our drivers turned in paperwork soaked in (presumably) their own urine and didn’t get fired for that so I felt the need to clarify
the highlight of my university career was following the flamboyantly gay lecturer around the building, as he led us like a barefoot Pied Piper, interrupting multiple classes because he wanted to find a good viewing point to watch the large chemical towers nearby get blown to shit
the demolition was actually scheduled for a different week entirely, but overall it was still a pleasant experience

A Sculpture that Fuses Western Gods and Heroes with Buddhist Iconography by Xu Zhen
European Thousand-Armed Classical Sculpture (2013–2014) by Xu Zhen fuses Western gods and heroes with Buddhist iconography. Nineteen statues in a variety of poses are lined up so that, viewed from the front, they resemble a “thousand-armed”Guanyin, a Buddhist symbol of compassion. The sculptures are radically simplified, all-white versions of 11 originals, including Athena Parthenos, Zeus, Hercules, Odysseus, the crucified Christ and the Statue of Liberty—chosen on the basis of their arm positions, copied in mirror image, and rescaled to the same 3-metre height.

Dana has been furiously translating these symbols and her best guess is that they say ‘They come in twos. You and come in twos. You and You. Kill your double.’ Cecil, continuing in a tone most people use to talk about cute cats: “There’s also a link to this amazing cat that keeps jumping in and out of boxes! Things I learned about Cole in Asunder that might help writing him (spoiler free edition):
- He does, in fact, sleep
- He also eats
- He likes floating in water
- Prior to learning his true nature (aka before Inquisition), all the weird stuff he knows he picked up eavesdropping
- He has trouble grasping metaphor (at one point he wonders how there can be so many First Enchanters and where all the second and third enchanters are)
- He only really uses the names of people he cares about, all others he tends to give descriptive nicknames for to distinguish them in his head (but never calls them those names out loud)
- He can always hear Lyrium singing if it is close enough and refers to it as music (this also seems to be true for some more powerful spells, but not all)
- His natural state appears to be ‘cold and wet’. Which he finds uncomfortable but never thinks to do anything about it.
- He has an aversion to places where the Veil is too thin - particularly if it’s thin because a lot of bad stuff™ happened there
- When things are too much for him, he crouches down and puts his head between his knees
- Affectionate touching (hugs, shoulder pats, etc) always cause him to first tense up and then relax, sometimes returning the gesture (such as hugging back)
- He is asexual (prior to his personal quest), but also not flustered by nudity or sex. He views both much like the disinterested narrator of a nature documentary.
- He has met, and fought beside, Leliana prior to Inquisition.
- He can make people near him invisible too, but this can often become too much leading to #10 and nosebleeds.
- He worries about what the people he cares about think of him and will adjust his behavior accordingly.
- Generally, if Cole cares about one person, he then begins to care about the people they care about. This explains his repeated attempts to befriend Sera despite her constant rejection - he cares about the Inquisitor, the Inquisitor (presumably since you’ve got them in a party together) cares about Sera, therefore Cole cares about Sera.
