Good on this man for filming and keeping his hands up. That cop was looking for an excuse to shoot him.

After claiming loudly for EVERYONE ELSE to hear that there’s a gun, he tells that guy much more quietly to turn his car off, meaning the driver would have to pull at least one of his hands inside the car, which would give the sad excuse for a human being every reason he wants to shoot the poor guy. He’d be telling investigators, “Yeah, I saw something that looked like a gun, he reached for it, and I feared for my life. Everyone around me heard me yell ‘gun’. You can ask my coworkers who would vouch for me.” District Attorney would then say, “We found that the officer was complying with protocols and violated no law. He can return to work after his life was nearly ruined by the false claims of onlookers who didn’t see what the officer saw.”

It’s almost as if they’re all reading from the same script.

More than 1/8th of the White Mountain Apache Tribe has tested positive for Covid-19.

They have been hit EXTREMELY hard and I have seen no posts going around talking about it. It is one of the hardest hit places in ARIZONA, a state that already has horribly high case numbers.

They have a Covid relief gofundme. Please donate if you can and spread this if you can't.

a special 6koma edition of Team Skull 4koma unfortunately based on a real encounter

Now the question is whether Plumeria is going to battle that dude, or move a cautious six feet back and clock him with the pokeball.

Finally had time to do another one of these Steven Universe x D&D crossovers! This is Rose Quartz, human Cleric (Life Domain) / Druid (Circle of Dreams).

TBH I didn’t even consider Druid at first but healing + plants + lion pal is perfect! Some cleric level dips will make her nice and tanky.

Bonus pink-haired version! I guess she could probably naturally dye her hair with some kind of plant extract?

Local Bookstores Have A New Weapon In The Fight With Amazon

In the book industry, Amazon is Goliath, the giant who overshadows everyone else. But there’s a new David on the scene, Bookshop.org.

It doesn’t expect to topple the giant, but it has launched a weapon that could make Amazon’s shadow a little smaller, and help local bookstores fight back.

Bookshop.org, a website that went live at the end of January and is still in beta mode, is designed to be an alternative to Amazon, and to generate income for independent bookstores. And, perhaps more importantly, it seeks to give book reviewers, bloggers and publications who rely on affiliate income from “Buy now” links to Amazon a different option.

Profit from books sold through Bookshop will be split three ways, with 10% of the sale price going into a pool that will be divided among participating bookstores, 10% going to the publication that triggered the sale by linking to Bookshop.org, and 10% going to Bookshop.org to support its operations.

y’all, Bookshop is amazing. i got an email about them from my local indie store, and they’re so excited about it. please oh please use this place instead of Amazon!!

with every purchase, they tell you how much you’re putting toward independent booksellers, which is fun and cute:

it’s also amazing for authors! i’ve been asked a couple times about the best way to support my books. this site is now the answer. it reports sales figures to the NYT and Bookscan, a type of tracking that helps authors hit bestseller lists. and even better, authors can set up affiliate pages, and if you buy through those pages, we get an additional 10 percent of each sale on top of royalties. this is a massive deal!!!

for reference, many royalty rates are in the 6-8 percent range. so if you buy through Bookshop author affiliate pages, authors get more than twice as much from sales of their books, with no additional cost to you.

the site is still in beta, but it also has a fun interface where you can make book lists for favorites or recommendations, sort of like goodreads (except better, because goodreads is owned by amazon).

this is my Bookshop page. if you ever buy one of my books, i pray u will do it from this site! (or from your local indie :D)

ArtofKace had this galaxy brain idea on twitter to have a Glimbow kid Jake for Catradora kid Finn so here's my take on that. Kind like his dad, hot tempered like his mom and dangerously influenced by Sea Hawk

AO3 link HERE

Summary: Entrapta is injured while she and Hordak are visiting Salineas.

Content warning: Dire injury, discomfort with hospitals/doctors. (Everyone lives! It’s not that kind of story.) This is mostly hurt/comfort.

-

Hordak was trying very hard not to lose his patience. This was Mermista’s kingdom. She had every reason to be angry with him and every reason to want the repairs to be done properly. He understood that. He respected that.

He did not understand why she had to be so infuriating, though.

“That isn’t possible.” He spoke through grit teeth.

“Why not?”

“Because I cannot break the laws of thermodynamics.”

“Ugh, you’re so useless. Why can’t you and Geek Princess just—?”

His shoulders went stiff. “What did you just call her?” His ears flattened and he bared his teeth, leaning forward.

She looked at him and rolled her eyes. “Fine,” she said, waving one hand as if in dismissal. “I don’t see why you can’t break the law of thermowhatever. It’s not like you’re a law-abiding citizen or anything.”

“You are dating a pirate!”

“So?”

He took a deep breath, looking down at the blueprints and counting to ten very slowly. His claws left dents in the edges of the table. “Do you want me to start on this project or not?” He bit out each word, trying to keep his breathing even.

“I guess. I mean, if this is really the best you can do.”

He was definitely asking Adora if she’d be willing to come to Salineas to serve as a buffer. Though enthusiastic, Entrapta was not an especially effective peacekeeper. She had ooh-ed when she saw the tall spire of alien tech and immediately scrambled up the side, using her hair to do so. Additionally, every time Mermista called her ‘Geek Princess’, Hordak came that much closer to losing it. He’d only managed to keep his temper because Entrapta didn’t seem to mind the designation.

“Yes. This is the best I can do. This is the best anyone can do without breaking the the laws of physics.”

“Fine. So, how long is this going to take?”

He took a deep breath, preparing to reply—then he heard an explosion. He turned, just in time to see Entrapta fall, smoke billowing and electricity still crackling.

Happiness

Rating: T, for references to torture/religious trauma

Summary: After Prime’s defeat, everyone tries to have dinner at camp.

This is fluff with a dash of angst! Hordak-centric.

A/N: I will be calling Wrong Hordak “Kadroh”.

-

“So, brother, how did you get to Etheria?”

Hordak didn’t look up. Entrapta and Kadroh had dragged him to the fire when everyone settled down for dinner. He was extremely aware of the Etherians’ eyes on him—some friendlier than others. “I’m not certain that revisiting the past is wise at this moment,” he said, trying to hide his discomfort.

“Gee. Why not?” the princess of Salineas asked.

He glanced up at her, ears twitching. Beside him, Entrapta wrapped her hair around his waist and shoulders. The gesture seemed almost protective. Looking around the fire, he realized that he knew the titles and powers of everyone gathered, but he only knew a few of their names. For a very long time, these people had been nothing more than obstacles to him. He didn’t hate them or resent them for their actions—he actually found himself feeling fondly for Adora—yet he could clearly tell that many, if not all, of the people around the fire hated him.

He lowered his gaze. Perhaps they did deserve an explanation. With a sigh, he said, “I’m still not fully sure what happened. I was separated from my brothers on the battlefield; a portal pulled me through and deposited me here. At first, I thought it was part of my punishment or maybe a test, but....” He shook his head. “That doesn’t make sense now.”

“Why would Prime be punishing you?” Catra asked, brows furrowed.

Shame still lingering, Hordak looked away and confessed softly, “I was...am flawed. I took pride in my work. I thought of myself as clever. Special. When Prime discovered the flaws in my thinking, he attempted to purify me—“

“Prime is merciful,” Kadroh agreed reflexively. Then he realized what he’d said. His eyes grew wide and he covered his mouth with both hands.

The boy beside him just threw an arm around his shoulders. “It’s okay, buddy. We know you didn’t mean that.”

Kadroh nodded, ears drooping. “Thank you. Brother, what happened then?”

“The purification ritual failed.” He couldn’t repress a shudder. “I do not remember how many times he tried—“

“Wait. You went through that multiple times?” Hordak looked at Catra, remembering chanting with his brothers when she underwent her own purification.

“Yes. My body gave out before I could be purified to Prime’s satisfaction. He recognized my willingness to serve had not wavered, so he allowed me the honor of dying in his service, rather than executing me. Then the portal sent me here. You know the rest.”

She swore under her breath and stood, beginning to pace. Adora stood too, ready to reach for her, but Catra stopped suddenly, glaring at him. “So, you went through a portal and ended up here. You were free! Why would you—? Why would you try to bring him here? Why didn’t you just, I don’t know—do literally anything else?”

Hordak looked at her, his ears drawn back, then he looked around the fire at the others. “Isn’t it obvious? If your god cast you out of heaven, what wouldn’t you do to be back in his grace?”

Kadroh was looking down at the ground, nodding softly. He understood. Everyone else just stared at him in horror.

It was Adora who broke the silence. Delicately, she asked, “You know...you know that’s...wrong, right?”

“Now? Yes. Prime was no god. Not a good one, at least. Not merciful, no matter what he told us. If I could go back....” He looked at the fire and sighed, knowing that was not an option. “I am sorry for the suffering I have caused. I thought....” He shook his head. It didn’t matter what he thought. He’d been wrong, and he knew that now.

He stood, facing Adora, and he bowed low. “Thank you, She-Ra. For freeing my people from him. I am in your debt. And in debt to Etheria. I know it won’t erase my past wrongdoings, but if there is something I can do to help restore your world, I will do it.”

When he straightened, Adora was rubbing the crook of her elbow and looking anywhere but at him. “Okay. Um. Let’s just...eat dinner and not talk about anybody being in anyone’s debt. Okay? Okay.”

She quickly sat down and began eating her food with remarkable speed. He looked at Entrapta, who shrugged. He sat back down, not really sure what to do with himself now.

Across the fire, the Salineas princess said, “Awkward,” under her breath.

The boy beside Kadroh cleared his throat. “So, Entrapta, now that the war’s over, do you think we can restart the Makers’ Guild?”

Entrapta exclaimed in excitement and the two of them began talking enthusiastically about their guild. There was a brief moment of tension when Entrapta grabbed his hand and said, “Oh, Hordak! Would you want to join the guild? Bow, can you imagine—alien tech and First Ones’ tech?! The possibilities are endless!” But, slowly, the mood around the fire began to ease, bolstered by their happy chatter.

As the evening dragged on and the air chilled, he noticed that Entrapta was shivering, but she was too involved in her conversation with Bow to retrieve a cloak for herself. With a touch to her shoulder, he murmured, “I’ll be back,” then started toward her tent. As he walked, he noticed that the Salineas princess was following him. He glanced back at the fire, where the others were too busy talking to take notice. “Princess.”

She stood in front of him, arms crossed. “Hmmph. You meant that? About restoring Etheria?”

“It is not in my nature to lie.”

“First Ones, you’re so weird—‘yes’ or ‘no’?”

“Yes. I meant it.”

“Good. You can start with Salineas.”

He nodded, remembering the damage that had been done to the seaside kingdom. “I believe I can—“

“Don’t care,” she said, already walking away. “Just fix it.”

His ears drew back; he was not fond of being dismissed. However...he started to think about the sea wall and the damage done to her kingdom. It should be easy enough to rebuild, with time and resources. He wondered, too, if the princess had ever considered building a desalination plant. The inland villages had rich soil, but the region suffered frequent droughts. A desalination plant and a proper irrigation system could make life a little easier for them. Why simply rebuild when he could improve it as well?

When he retrieved Entrapta’s cloak, he grabbed a tablet and stylus as well, already making plans. Back at the fire, he draped the cloak over her shoulders and settled beside her once again. Across the fire, Scorpia made a strange sound. “Force Ca—Princess Scorpia? Is something wrong?”

“No! Nope! Nothing wrong!” Her voice was inordinately high pitched, and one of her claws was pressed to her mouth. The tall, willowy princess at her side was staring at him and Entrapta intently.

He had no idea what to make of that. Before he could draw any conclusions, Entrapta drew the cloak around his shoulders as well, cuddling into his side. “Thanks!” she said, looking up at him, “I didn’t even realize I was cold.”

“You’re welcome.” He sighed, looking back at Scorpia in response to the strange sound she’d made. “Are you quite sure you’re well, Force Captain?”

She nodded vigorously, one claw pressed to her mouth. “Mmmh-hmmm.”

He eyed her suspiciously, but ultimately decided to let it go. Instead, he chose to let Entrapta’s happy babble wash over him as he drew up plans for Salineas. Hordak smiled fondly, happy to hear her voice, happy to be beside her, happy to hear her plans. Just.

Happy.

Nightmares

TW: Mentions Of Trauma, Cult environment, the whole purification ritual thing (i‘m not sure what to call it honestly)

Other notes: First time writing them. I love entrapdak but I am still a bit unsure if I can really portray these two. Beeing in character is something super important to me. So if anyone has constructive criticism please tell me.

Hearing someone scream was startling enough, but it was only made worse by the fact that it was a voice very similar to his own. Beside him, he could feel Entrapta stirring. „What was that?“ she already seemed fully awake again. He had always admired how much energy she had.

„One of the clones. Something must have happened to them.“ Hordak sighed. This wasn‘t a rare occurence. Princess Entrapta‘s Castle was a lot, even for She-ra and friends, but now for a million of recently disconnected clones? They already felt lost without the hivemind, a maze directly designed to make everyone except Entrapta get lost didn’t help much. The two lab partners were currently working on getting everyone their own trackpad. Still, there was something absolutely blood curdling about that scream, he couldn‘t help but be worried.

„We should check on him!“ Entrapta was already dressed, while Hordak opted for wrapping himself in a fluffy bathrobe Entrapta had provided. His labpartner was still working on a new armor. Back in the frightzone he would have dismissed this article of clothing, but things had changed now and he had grown to like the feeling of soft fabric against his damaged skin. It reminded him of Entrapta‘s hugs.

„Where did the scream come from?“

Hordak pointed into the general direction.

„This is going to take some trial and error.“

Dryl was not limitless, but it was big. Entrapta had offered her home to every clone she met and it showed. Most clones insisted on staying together as much as possible, so they shared rooms, but there were still barely any free rooms left. The duo systematically looked into any room and corridor, until they heard a faint sobbing.

They followed the sound in concerned silence and knocked onto the door.

„Hey! Are you okay? Can we come in?“ Entrapta asked. Hordak preferred to stay silent for the time beeing, he wasn‘t sure how to deal with crying.

A quiet „yes“ was the answer, distorted by beeing forced between sobs.

It was one of the rare single-bedrooms. There had been some attempts to customize it somewhat, a single picture frame was hung on the wall, but it still felt cold and bare. The bed was placed under the picture frame and on the bed was a cowering clone. Entrapta immediately rushed to him.

„You seem upset. What was that scream?“ Hordak inquired.

„I was back at the ship. Big brother was there...we were at the purification pond. I was beeing purified. How can that be? I thought big brother was gone! I don’t feel connected to the hivemind, so why is he back?!“ The clone gabbed onto Entrapta, as if he wasn‘t sure what reality to believe in.

„Fascinating! You seem to be dreaming!“ Entrapta’s eyes sparkled for a moment, until she recomposed herself. Her hair pat the clone on the back, in an attempt to comfort him.

„It’s a phenomena in which your subconscious shows you things that aren‘t really there. Etherians call them nightmares.“ Hordak explained. He still remembered his first dream. For a short period of time, he had thought his mind had gone fully defective. It was good, he concluded, that the clones had someone to explain it to them, this time around.

„So..,it’s not real?“ the clone sniffled and looked up at him with big tears eyes. „But I could see him clearly...calling me a failure and rotten and-„ They couldn‘t distinguish the rest, because of the clone‘s sobbing.

Entrapta looked at Hordak.

„I was in the pool. I-I could feel the chemicals on my skin...it hurt.“ The clone seemed calmer now, having switched to a meek, whispering voice. He sounded like a wounded child.

„Chemicals? Pool?“ Entrapta, usually so happy to receive new information, was quiet. Hordak hadn‘t told her about everything that had happened, back on the ship. His memories were still a bit jumbled and wounds were still too fresh.

„It‘s what Prime does to get rid of imperfections.“ Hordak said in a restrained voice.

„A-all beeing must suffer to become pure.“ The clone muttered, frantically clinging to Entrapta, given the circumstances it was understandable. One look into the Clone‘s eyes was enough to tell him that.

„Well, he can‘t hurt you anymore. It’s just a dream, not real.“ Entrapta shushed.

„Prime is gone. She-ra drove him out.“ Hordak crouched down awkwardly, so he could be on eye level with the clone, who was still in a laying position. Entrapta’s hair was rubbing comforting circle’s into his back. It seemed to relax him a bit. Hordak could see the wheels in her head turning, looking for a way to improve the clone’s situation. Her eyes were asessing the room, when suddenly they found themselves on the picture frame.

“Ooh! Is that my staff?” She pointed at the framed picture enthusiastically, interest piqued. It depicted four stick figures, drawn with shaky lines, but each had its own unique hairstyle, loosely resembling her caterers. The last one seemed to be the clone himself, judging from the square facial structure. They were all holding hands and smiling.

“You can tell?” The clone smiled shakely. “They were very nice to me the other day. I wanted to have something to remember them by...in case...” New tears formed in his eyes.

“In case of what?” Entrapta didn’t understand.

“In case I end up beeing inedequate and...I end beeing re-“

“You are doing well.” Hordak’s voice was low, still new to beeing the one guiding others, “You have your own room, you learned to sleep, you have..friends. You are becoming your own person. Prime has no power over you.”

The clone took a shaky breath and nodded.

“Are dreams always like this?” He asked.

“Not at all.”

“Usually they are weird! Or fun!” Entrapta squealed, motioning wildly with her hands.

Entrapta spent a whole hour talking about her dreams, until the clone finally fell asleep. The exhaustion finally got to him. Entrapta smiled and they both sneaked away quietly.

They only spoke when they were in bed again.

“Hey Hordak?”

“Yes, Entrapta?”

“Do you have nightmares about that pool too? Or about Prime in general?” This wasn’t her scientific curiosity voice, she was genuinely concerned.

He looked at her lovingly. “Your presence usually keeps those away.”
