kinda feel like I need to go outside and be absorbed by fog or somethin. become one with the creatures in the mist. become the physical manifestation of the sound the highway makes in the distance. be my own liminal space. self care, yknow
Donβt armchair diagnose mass shooters and other killers. The misconception that all violent people must be mentally ill (and the following conclusion that all mentally ill people must be dangerous) has horrible real life consequences for visibly mentally ill people.
Schizophrenic people are 14 times more likely to be a victim of a violent crime than committing one because people assume that weβre homicidal and dangerous and may react very negatively to visibly mentally ill behavior, partly due to all the media portrayals of schizophrenics as violent killers.
50% of people killed by police are disabled or mentally ill (and the victims are disproportionately black or other people of color) because the unusual behavior of visibly disabled and visibly mentally ill people is read as inherently threathening and dangerous.
Please consider the real life consequences of reinforcing the association between mental illness and violence - people are dying because y'all want to blame all evil in the world on severe mental illness so that you can clearly separate yourself from it. Youβre harming an already extremely vulnerable and marginalized group of people and itβs time to stop!
I encourage people who arenβt schizophrenic to reblog this. These stereotypes are literally getting people killed and Iβve seen no awareness around this on this website.

Thereβs nothing more ugly than the culture of having children for the sake of having them. Too many people askΒ βdo you want kids?β but not enough askΒ βare you ready for the emotional, physical, and financial sacrifices you will have to make to raise children?β Itβs so ugly to me that people treat kids like a commodity, like a dress or a pair of earrings they just throw on. How dare you? Thatβs not a new car you can get bored of or discard in a few years, that is a person, and particularly a person who will absolutely be dependent on you for emotional support, financial support, discipline, and leadership; someone who you will have power of virtually every portion of their lives until theyβre ready to be adults, who you will impact in irreversible ways, who will look to you for the rest of YOUR life and theirs for explanations about life and how they turned out to be who they are, for better or for worse. If you say youΒ βwant kidsβ but youβre βnot sure if you could handleβ them needing time and attention, costing you money,Β or youβre βnot sure you can handleβ if they turn out gay, or disabled, or transgender, or any other myriad of things that donβt really make your child any less of a person but which an ugly society can have ugly views on, etc. then you donβt deserve to have children. If youΒ βwant childrenβ but havenβt thought about literally having to be there for them for virtually everything they will go through and ask of you, youβre not adult enough to have them.
And whatβs so insidious about many of these same people is that they are the ones making their children feel guilty that they fed them, housed them, and basically didnβt let them die, as if this is some meritorious act, as if parents arenβt supposed to raise their children and not kill and starve them, as if they are some type of martyr that deserves praise for doing the bare minimum.

Me standing on a gorgeous stone balcony outside of a grand ballroom, breathing in some fresh air because the fumes of the champagne and the loud joyous noise gave me slight sensory overload. The wind beautifully moves my gown.
