I love fanfictions! Really! I can’t stop reading them, particularly when the shows they are inspired from are so frustrating. For example, I discovered The Blacklist a few months back, and I was curious whether the show has its fanfiction, which generally is a good sign for its popularity.

Do you...

Thank you so much for including me on this list! I actually jumped up and down when I saw this…made my night. So honored to be included in this wonderful group of Blacklist fanfic writers.

My thoughts on why Red admitting to Liz that he killed Sam is significant –

What Liz knew (from the photos in the lockbox) -

-       Red was at the hospital at the time of Sam’s death

-       Red saw Sam before his death and didn’t tell Liz (over the phone that day or anytime after)

-       Red had reason to see Sam before he died (most likely reason, he knew Sam)

-       Tom recognized Red and arranged for the incriminating photos

What Liz asked – did you kill my father?

  Possible responses by Red –

-       No, and Liz would have never found out (I think that this is critically important – the only way she would know for sure if Red killed Sam was if Red told her – which he did, if Tom had photos of the event he surely would have used them)

-       Yes, and it risks their entire relationship

Ramifications of Red confirming that he killed Sam –

-       further affirmation that Red never lies to Liz (ie, daddygate)

-       whatever Red sees in Liz / feels for Liz, she is more than the endgame play in some scheme / revenge that Red is working towards. If this were the case (if Liz was the endgame play) Red would have (obviously) denied killing Sam as to keep Liz close (and thereby be able to use her to his advantage later)

-       it mattered to Red (even if he was conflicted) that Liz knew the truth. Even if it painted him in a bad light. Even if it vilified Red. Even if it ended their (current) relationship. Even if it ended any relationship. It mattered to Red (on a most personal level) that (although he withholds a lot of information) whatever information he does give Liz is true.

My conclusion from all of this –

Red is willing to sacrifice any advantage Liz brings him in the short term for the potential relationship between Red / Liz in the future / long term. I think that this is a huge shift from the beginning of their relationship (when Red rolled out of the box).
