One Girl's Journey to Saturday Night Live

@snlbound-blog / snlbound-blog.tumblr.com

My name is Lauren Bancroft and I'm from Nashua, NH. I started this Tumblr in December of 2010 to document my path to go from who and where I am now, to being a cast member of Saturday Night Live. I have a realistic plan with attainable goals that I work very hard at every week. I do stand up. I study improv. I write. I work hard. Ten phases. Eight years. One goal. www.laurenbancroft.com contact@laurenbancroft.com

I am not dead.

I am long over due for an update and will get to that soon. I'm on a house sketch team at the Nerdist Improv School called The Burbs and I have my first show with them tonight at 8p and I am really god damn excited. Now to learn my lines and find a western themed costume.

Well guys I had my audition today. Didn't go great. I'll talk for about it later. I have a Democratic Debate to prepare for.

Got some new head shots! Thanks to Ari Chapman for the sitting.

Okay so I have this audition next week and I'm trying really hard not to tell too many people about it yet because I may not get it but I think I'm perfect for it and please please please I hope the new dress I bought today is my lucky charm. On one hand it's a big town here in LA so competition, but on the other hand it would be irresponsible for them to not pick me.

I am alive. I am well. I am living in La still. I am a Sunday night tech intern at Nerdist. I just started improv three and just finished sketch one. I am a core member of a sketch production group that shoots weekly. I am now in a weekly improv practice group. I am doing things and here is some visual proof.

Had a super fun time at No We Aren't Married with Lily Gatica and Jim Bruce at The Wilde Thistle in Culver City. Did 8 minutes and full disclosure, it was my first stand up set in maybe three months? Felt good.

There's something about hearing five smart, funny and beautiful producers talk about their experiences to get you pumped up about what's possible if you make things. Great Women in Comedy Panel this morning. So glad I got to help set up. Awesome group of ladies bringing this series together. (Check out the I Just Said That Podcast coming soon!)

Level Two Improv Grad Show is Tonight!

How am I done level two already? Who knows but it's been lovely and wicked hard. Seven classmates who I've been with for both one and two are all holding off on three so we can all be in the same class again. How cute is that?

A few behind the scenes shots from a Milk Factory sketch comedy day on set from last weekend. So much fun hanging with these goofballs. All students at Nerdist; all lovely.
