What was going through your mind when you placed the ball on the penalty spot that day - that night - in Munich?

It’s a strange feeling because when I went, when I was walking to put the ball on the penalty spot, I knew the game was won. I knew we won it. […] Not because I was confident that I was going to score, but because of the three saves that Petr Cech did during the game. I think because I’m a striker and because maybe it was the last kick that won us the trophy, people thanked me. But for me, if it wasn’t for Petr, I never would’ve lifted the cup. So, Petr Cech, all the way.

It is simple. If the club says, ‘You are staying here’, then I will be staying. That’s why I’m staying. I can only leave if the club lets me go. And that is not the case.

Good to see Petr Cech between the sticks in today’s match. He’s been the perfect gentleman and professional, biding his time on the sidelines in order to give Courtois a chance and support the needs of the club. Even though he didn’t manage to keep a clean sheet, he played very well - hopefully there is more of him to come as the season progresses.
