still annoyed that httyd2 spent the entire fucking movie making the point that hiccup is not an ideal chief, and that astrid is, and then just fucked it all over and made hiccup chief in the end like honestly fuck off

are you serious?! i hate this trope of a less deserving mediocre male protagonist getting the job/leadership position/etc. over a much more qualified woman (who is usually a love interest…guardians of the galaxy anyone?) ugh i loved the first httyd and now i have no desire to see the second one.

I have to disagree, it is absolutely not the same trope. The whole point of both of the HTTYD films have been to show that Hiccup IS the deserving chief. He definitely isn’t ‘mediocre’ in comparison to Astrid, he is what Berk needs right now. To make Astrid chief would be pointless and undermine all of Hiccup’s character development as well as the whole point of the films. I do recommend you watch the second one.

This is Berk. It snows nine months of the year, and hails the other three. Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so. The only upsides are the pets. While other places have ponies or parrots, we have dragons.

May the valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin’s great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla and know that you’ve taken your rightful place at the table of kings. For a great man has fallen: A warrior. A chieftain. A father. A friend.

“It was weird,” said Hiccup. “I sort of sensed it when we were running down the tunnel. I couldn’t see anything, but as we were passing, I just knew there was a dragon there, and that it was meant to be MY dragon.”

This is what I’m good at. And if I could change your mind… I can change his, too. {x}

Your head’s a turnip, I’ve always hated turnips. At least you’re not upside down anymore. So long!!

We didn’t set out to be superheroes. But sometimes life doesn’t go the way you planned. The good thing is, my brother wanted to help a lot of people and that’s what we’re gonna do. Who are we?
