Hi everyone! It was nice to take a day off of social media to recoup the drawing-a-day challenge of Zack for 30 days and I just wanted to share my affection for everyone who was following me before and anyone joining along during the challenge.
It’s been a long time since I drew so much and I found myself taken back to the days of my early 20s drawing late into the evenings on tumblr after my university studies. It returned a little of that magic I felt back then where the quality of the finish didn’t matter. That is incredible. I’m glad to have experienced it with my favourite character too.
I may not post as often but I hope to continue posting less than great work and to return to enjoying what I make rather than feeling like I need to have something done. Thanks for everything ;;

I am introducing some new features for Chinstrap Penguins! At no added cost, you will be getting a new art photocard every month and a unique traditional doodle through the mail! (See the photos attached). January will be the one and only Zack Fair!
Basically it’s some monthly snail mail that features; a traditional doodle on scrap paper with a character you might like and excitingly a new line of products I’m introducing - Character Photocards!
We will be officially launching them at cons in 2023 and they will be a con-exclusive. So the only other way to get any at all, will be Chinstrap membership! Also, the most exciting part is that you also will have a sway in choosing the next character for the following month. And please don’t be shy. I may or may not select them, but I will always consider whoever you choose!
PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for the Zack Fair Photocard will be the 10th of January, so you must become a Chinstrap before then to be able to get him. Otherwise, it’ll carry onto the next character/month. Thank you!

It was nearing closing time when the academic youth burst through the ringing entrance of a quaint bookshop. It lined a hidden alleyway from the main shopping district, enclosed in its personal bubble of peace – the entire nook embodying the essence of independent literature. The evening was settling over the quarter, a huffing student speeding knowingly through the store like a homing missile. As noisy as it looked – little came from her but hurried steps from her heels on carpet and breathless sounds.
Turning the sharp corner of a set of deep mahogany shelves built on site - energetic strides halted in surprise. Held in the hands of a stranger before her lay the last of an academic literature recommended to her by a well-liked professor. Dark orbs of leather brown rolled over the individual – eyeing the enemy that would interfere with the girl and her destiny. Painted lips parted to enunciate a single syllable. “No…!”
Her eyebrows knitted together in disappointed concern as she unknowingly addressed the man before her.

I like it a lot actually, “ he opens the packaging for the chopsticks, breaking them straight down the middle properly. “ I don’t like the artificial spice that some packaging has for ramen. “ Beelzebub works at a restaurant part-time; he understands what’s ‘ right spice ‘ and ‘ lousy spice. ‘
“ Spicy fried scorpion is really good, even though the packaging for some of that stuff is messy. I like the real thing better. “ Is all Beel says before he’s practically inhaling the noodles into his mouth, not even bothering to cool them off, the hunger akin to starvation too immense for his patience. Sure, it burns his tongue, but he’ll heal.
It takes only a few moments of him eating, finally slowing down by the third bowl for him to wipe his mouth against his hand, grimacing when he realizes he forgot to ask for something to wipe his mouth.
“ S’good. Can you cook for me forever? “ He means it, having someone to cook for him after gym nights would be fantastic.
“ Uh. . . I mean, after gym workouts. Preferably, you know, with proper spice. “ Beel smiles at her, something akin to bashfulness at him, asking her this.
A wash of relief consumed her body, now understanding what he had meant - it was evident that she had misunderstood and the clarification made her appreciate his tastes more so.
Wanting to feel disturbed by his eating habits as she observed him, she couldn’t - it was almost ritualistic and artistic how he devoured the food, feeling a little flattered that he would enjoy it so much. Although perhaps he just ate anything... no that was contradictory with his statements - he really did appreciate all good food. His descriptions of food almost made her salivate herself.
Whilst absorbed by her thoughts, she noticed his messy demeanour and search around quickly for a tissue or handkerchief to hand him. She should have come prepared - this was unfortunate. Whilst looking, his question caught her off guard, flushing her vision with a little shy embarrassment. Joy looked at him for greater clarification - his smile making her giggle awkwardly.
“It’s okay, I understand what you mean haha... I’d happily bring you food after your hard-working gym sessions, but only if I could join you in eating,”
AREUM YAWNS AS SHE LIFTS HER HEAD AT THE VOICE. “ good morning. ” she greets back with yet another yawn. “ oh, i don’t know if you got the email but we’re having a 20% off on our cinnamon lattes for people who have their membership card. last minute email. ” gosh, she’s exhausted. mei-shin kept waking up through the night…
“ it’s supposed to rain this afternoon so lunch hour shouldn’t be too hectic. ” areum hums out as she scrolls through her phone. “ do you think anyone would care if i took a doughnut ? ” the question is a playful tease as she gets up from her seat, she wasn’t going to take one… she already did five minutes before the other woman came in.
A gentle nod of acknowledgement and a soft chuckle slipped between her teeth as Areum queried about the doughnut. The sables-haired youth did not, herself, mind on consuming the stock. Waste not, want not.
Although it was not necessarily within her position to allow and disallow anything - she smiled cheekily at the other staff member - a shine reflected in the warmth of the early sun. As Joy prepared her last allocated job for the opening of the café, she brewed her response.
“I’ll try to get used to making cinnamon lattes then, haha. And honestly, don’t think anyone will notice, go for it, if you haven’t already,” Joy commented, with just the two of them in the building. On the basis of the discount, she prepared the materials now as it was likely it’d be the day’s most popular.
