Help Kia & Jo’s LDR dream come true!

Hey everyone,

Nakia and I are a Black and brown queer couple who have been in a long-distance relationship for more than a year and with some careful time and consideration, we have decided we want to move in together!! The thing is, unfortunately, we have limited income and resources for this major relocation process to occur. Saving a lot of money like this is next to impossible for both of us struggling financially, trying to meet daily/weekly/monthly expenses and managing mental health (as both correlate if you don’t have much money); still we’re doing what we can to save. Now we want to call onto loved ones, community and anyone willing to help us through monetary support to make this LDR dream come together.

Kia is an educator with New Jersey teaching certifications. Upon moving to California, she’ll be seeking work in the education field. She has experience in adult education as well and she is open to pursuing a job helping adults earn their GEDs. Jo is a caregiver, writer, creator and a mother to an autistic 13 year old.

Financial contributions will help cover the costs to bring Kia from NJ to CA, secure a place for all 3 of us to live, for a rental truck, for starting up utilities and to buy some groceries. We are asking for a total of $7,000. We know it will take several thousands of dollars to make this big of a move. We would like to have enough money and resources to move by the end of next year, 2019. Any financial contributions received are deeply appreciated!

Being in this particular relationship, we hold on closely to the moments when we get to share energy in person. With everything that is happening in our world that we bear witness to, we hold on tenderly because we don’t know when, how or if we will see each other again. So taking this path makes sense. It feels right even in the ways that it challenges us too. This journey surely wouldn’t be one without us needing others, us asking for help. And with that, we are here. Seven years ago Faye Daniels met Katie West in a hotel room in Toronto. They got naked, took photos, and then afterwards decided to get to know each other. They realised they had much more in common than a love of self-portraiture and photography. They’re both the same age and both born in September. They both use self-portraiture as a form of therapy. They both have a brother four years younger. They both worked at Kelsey’s in their youth. They both love 2000s RnB. They both drink way too much Diet Coke. They both have amazing women in their lives named Kaye, and before they met, had never heard of anyone else with that name before. They both live for pizza. They’re both interested in exploring honesty, femininity, strength, and vulnerability through their photos. They both love photo adventures with no maps and the open road. And they both have no problem ordering mozzarella sticks for breakfast.

Since then Faye and Katie have traveled together to Upstate New York, Columbus, Montreal, Iceland, and countless other road trips to shoot each other and other babes. For their latest adventure to Hawaii, you can expect gorgeous scenery, a lot of car signing to Childish Gambino, nudity in all the most appropriate and inappropriate places, and spectacular photos of a couple of babes who’ve spent nearly a decade getting very good at shooting and modeling with one another.
