the sound…

of heavy rain and thunderstorms. of radio and old television static. of the ocean. of the waves. of seagulls from a distance.

the sound…

when your food is frying in the oil. when you eat multiple chips at once. when you’re pouring cereal. when you’re taking off plastic. when you’re typing and tapping. when you step on a leaf. when the wind blows rustling leaves. when you’re eating ice cubes. when you place a bowl on the countertop. when the sink water is running. when you button up your jacket. when you clip your nails. when you take off your seatbelt. when you pop that jar lid open. when someone’s voice surprises you.

more things influence our mood than we think. the littlest things like not making our bed, being around certain people, seeing things that normalize bad coping mechanisms on social media, listening to a song that triggers negative emotions, checking someone who shouldn’t be in your life anymore, obsessing over thoughts that make you feel unworthy or anxious…it’s time to stay closer to things that make us feel warm and happy and removing (or distancing ourselves) from things that make us feel sad at night

If somebody keeps ignoring you, at what point do you get the message and move on? Do you really want forced conversation? You don’t mind speaking to a hostage?

This applies to everybody, but especially men

if suddenly you feel the urge to cry come upon you seemingly from nowhere, please, recognize that it is not from nowhere. it is from a somewhere where you forgot to mourn properly. a place only your body can remember. let these tears come. let your body mourn. let your body feel her loss. even if you cannot understand her (who can?) it is important to let your body have this. when the crying is over feed your body something special and be gentle with her. bless
