Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition [September 18, 2017]

Went to the aforementioned event at Tokyo Dome today! It was a very nostalgic affair. There weren’t much areas where people were allowed to take pictures, but the areas that did allow pictures were pretty cool. The statue of Hiromu Arakawa’s cow avatar was pretty amusing.

Besides showcasing the actual illustrations in their original glory (you could see places where the lines weren’t that cleaned up and where the ink is heavier than it should be, among other things such as where the paint has dried up, that kinda thing), there were some exhibits that went for a more “live” presentation, such as the moment when Ed and Al committed the taboo of human transmutation, Pride’s shadows lurking around a small portion of the gallery, and a semi-animated version of the manga panels where Ed gets Al’s body back. The foremost and lattermost were fully voiced.

I think to get the most out of the exhibit, you have to rent the Ed/Al tour guide voice over thing (which I uhhh kinda regret not getting, ahaha). But even without those, it’s still pretty nice seeing Arakawa’s work in their original form.

The Bear Stand in Ontario

From the architects Bohlin Grauman Miller in association with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson:

Located approximately three hours northeast of Toronto, Ontario, this 3,300 sq. ft. retreat is carefully situated along the shores of Contau Lake on a remote, seasonally isolated woodland spanning nearly 100 acres. Recalling childhood adventures exploring the surrounding lakes and forest, the clients wished to share this unique place with others by creating a place of reprieve to be rented to vacationing families.

I have gathered all of the Tsukiuta icons and made this (there are ones that I left out). Everyone grew up so handsome.

Kokeru (sorry, a lame joke from the anime) Kakeru looks like he hasn’t changed at all. His bangs are shorter but that’s everything. I bet his height hasn’t changet either. (Okay…he might became taller)

Hajime from young charming prince became the king, for sure. Also his hair looks better now.

Koi has changed a lot and became seriously good loking, isn’t he? He is not a little boy with hairpins anymore, he is a man with hairpins now, I suppose, that’s sad, because he is the youngest among the boys.

As for Haru, he looks more handsome and serious, just like megane-san who is alwas with him.

Arata looked like an impudient but handsome brat, but now he looks like a Casanova.

Aoi from the cute neighbor boy became the prince charming in white horse. Okay he hasn’t got a horse but still… he looks much like much better just like everyone else, so nice work boys, I’m so proud of you.

I’ll also post the Procella version

Here is the Procella version, they also grew up quiet handsome, so I’m proud of them, too.

Rui is not the little boy who you want to protect, is he? He looks mature and his hair is fluffier I suppose.

Kai hasn’t changed much, but he became manlier and more mature, for sure.

Yoh has been good looking before, too, but now he looks like the Procella’s Casanova. Although his hair is the same fortunately, or maybe it’s longer? IDK.

Yoru from the cute boy became the man you want to take home as your boyfriend(or your mother, as you wish).

As for Iku, he looks like the typical shota sportsman bishounen, but he hasn’t got baby face anymore. Longer bangs look great on him.

Shun has always was the most handsome in Procella, but now he is eve more better, although the others had a level-up,too. His hair is assimethric in the last picture, but that’s my favourite it’s a kind of cute and sexy at the same time. Never change Demon King! Okay, you can, but stay handsome.

  1. Velvet • Furisode Concept Art
  2. Velvet’s long hair has been raised up into braids that lead into a gentle bun style. The final touch is her hair ornament, which is composed of tsumami zaiku crafted Rose of Sharons. In hanakotoba Rose of Sharon represents “faith in your ideals”.
  3. In the section of the Kimono below the obi, allusions to the story of Tales of Berseria are arranged.
  4. To compliment the elaborate kimono, she has been given a simple pair of glossy heeled zori
  5. a: Her demon hand and a princessia stylized as a Japanese pattern b: A Wysteria tatewaku pattern.
  6. The the obi features a tortoiseshell pattern with the symbol from Laphicet’s clothing added into the design. The obidome is a water knot.
  7. She wears a velour glove on her demon hand.
  8.  Please tie the obi with a tsunodashi musubi as seen in the illustration below.
  9. Chinese Phoenix motif.
  10. Tortoiseshell design representing the ToB party: Red: Rokurou  White: Laphicet  Purple: Magilou  Yellow: Eizen  Green: Eleanor.
  11. Chrysanthemum motif: Simple, leafed, in the Japanese pattern style.
  12. Japanese pattern styled princessia flower.
  13. The back of the kimono is not simplified. The pattern from the front winds all the way around to the back.

Editor’s Note: Taking into consideration that the design alluding to ToB’s story features the wisteria pattern near the beginning and at the end I did some research onto what the flower could mean. The best definition I could find for wisteria in hanakotoba is “Tenderness” and “Never to be separated“.
