i just get so excited when i see elrond in the movies now bc like

biologically he’s earendil and elwing’s son

and idril and tuor’s grandson

aND TURGONS GREAT GRANDSON

AND FINGOLFIN’S GREAT GREAT GRANDSON

and he basically spent his formative years w/ maglor and maedhros so everything he does and all of his attitudes and mannerisms he probably picked up and learned from one of them and that’s just

SO

FUCKING

COOL

Are you speaking about the films ………..?

I agree with the last part (Elrond is basically my favorite character of LotR), BUT there’s a big BUT. In the films his personality was totally distorted, he from a wise and kind person became a cold-hearted asshole and his only purpose in the films is being the “villain” of the love story between Aragorn and Arwen … and he seemed to hate Aragorn for no reasons at all (because Aragorn is his adoptive son), and Jackson put in his mouth words for the only purpose to make the public hate Elrond (for example “Men are weak”, W H Y. Elrond is the twin of /Elros Tar Minyatur/, the First King of Numenor, how could he thinks that the people of his Brother are “weak”? This is the one of the greatest OOC of the trilogy). And the crew seemed that they wanted to present Elrond as an asshole in the worst moments and a boring pen-pusher in the best moments. But Elrond IS NOT SO.

So, I too could be excited by the presence of Elrond in the films … but the screenwriters totally ruined his characterization.

Elrond was one of my favorite characters in the book for decades and then the movies came out and I was devastated at how PJ made him a completely unsympathetic character. This is why I like to write Elrond fanfiction.

Self pimping a few of my Elrond (I have more probably):

THIS ^^^^^^^

Same for me xD My only consolation is writing myself the Elrond that I want ^^^ (and ignore that the films exist, basically, even if it’s difficult when I find people that make bashing on Elrond for things that happen only in the films :/ )

Oh, thanks <3 I could read them when I find time, it’s cute knowing that someone else writes about canon! Elrond *^* I too had written (and I’m writing a little tale, still unpublished ^^) something about Elrond, but it’s all in Italian xD

Hobbit movie Elrond is I think better than LOTR movie Elrond : I actually like the LOTR movies, at least in places (Theoden! Boromir! Eowyn!) but Elrond was a huge disappointment who made those parts of the movies hard to watch.  In the Hobbit movies he’s less of a grumpy scrunchface, or perhaps it’s just that I was expecting him to be a grumpy scrunchface so was less disappointed.

I dunno, while movie!Elrond is obviously super different from book!Elrond, I kind of like my Elrond a little bitter and jaded on occasion? Given everything he's been through in his rather long life I think it'd be completely understandable if he was just a little frustrated with everything by the time his foster son (and brother's 48th-or-thereabouts-great-grandson) and biological daughter decided to marry, not least because that meant he'd be losing one of the few remaining family members he had left forever. I love book!Elrond and he's my favorite, but I think movie!Elrond really communicates the sense that being a peredhel means the last few thousand years of catastrophic world-altering events is literally your own personal family drama, if that makes sense? Like, having read the Silmarillion after watching PJ's movies, I suddenly felt like I understood why he acted the way he did, even though there's this enormous disconnect between the movie and book universes.

Hello? Little human? Okay I kiss you now.

Fun fact: the cat is checking the baby’s mouth to see if it is still breathing. Were it not breathing, the cat would commence to eat it.

FUN FACT

Omfg

That’s just blatantly untrue. While cats have been known to eat human corpses, it’s generally only when they’re starving and have no other food source. Seriously, quit demonizing cats.

Nose touches (as you see here) are a cats way of saying hello. It’s a friendly greeting. It’s NOT checking for breath.

Laying on a human (as you see here) is literally cat cuddling. Thats it.

We have literal records of cats going out of their way to save the lives of children from various dangers, from fires, to dog attacks, to choking to death. Its very easy to look up.

The only cases of cats eating their humans, have always been when their human died and it has been several days without the body being found. Amazingly this tends to line up with the cat not being fed and therefore STARVING.

It’s also a common thing among most pet animals too? Like sorry, your dog will do it too. Hell, ever heard of the the Donner Party? Humans aren’t exempt. When faced with survival, you try and survive.

STOP DEMONIZING CATS FOR BEING ANIMALS.

(And I mean, all it takes is a quick google search to figure this out, but no lets spread misinformation about innocent animals?)

If you actually truly believe cats are out to get you, and are cold and not affectionate, or whatever else people use to justify demonizing cats… You need to actually look up cat behavior. Your cat who ‘ignores’ you? More often than not is just respecting your space. Your cat who lashes out? Probably not feeling safe in their environment. Your cat brings you gross things? Trying to look after you.

Cats aren’t dogs. They have a set way of communication, and while they can learn dofferent expressions of affection, it will always be less evident than with dogs (who are particularily malleable to human behavior.) This doesn’t mean they are any less loving or capable of bonds.

All it takes is a quick google search to figure out why your cat does what they do. And literally, no cat intrinsically wants to eat babies.

are you kidding me, cats are super protective of small children. they’ve been known to attack dogs, snakes, alligators and grown-ass men if they thought a child was in danger. a stray cat in russia saved an abandoned baby from hypothermia by cuddling him, alerted people to his presence and tried following the freaking ambulance that took him to the hospital. they are very sweet and patient with babies and there are tons of adorable videos out there to prove it.

how can u marathon ghibli movies… theyre special. theyre luxuries.. u have to space them out. a single ghibli film makes u heal and affects u so much. u lose out on that power when u force yourself into a marathon
