Back..? Ish? Don’t know yet!

((HELLO for those who still follow me for some strange reason and will actually read this. I haven’t been on here in... well, months, though it feels longer. Year or so? I dunno. My memory is incredibly lacking in those i wrote with in the past and past threads, so later and eventually I may come along to having to discard previous threads I have in my drafts to try and start somewhat new. I truly miss writing here and want to get back into it. SO, might post later of the drafts I have and if I wish to continue it with that person, yada yada, which ones to start new, you get the dealio.. anywho, wonder if any of my followers are still active and will read this. Kiss kiss!))

River had been on her own for quite a while after her parents had been taken by the weeping angels in Manhattan, 1938. She’d stopped her detective job and moved along in her life, working with other archaeologists. She had her own team, and things were going well in her favor.

She’d come across her diary one day as she was scattering her belongings from the last trip she’d taken with her team. She always kept it on her, but she refused to read the pages sine Manhattan. She couldn’t kept it that way though.

It seemed childish to neglect something that was so important to her, but it hurt.

Taking a deep breath, River sat in her room for a while, scanning the pages that were filled were her neat scribbles of adventures she had with the Doctor and the sketches she’d done. All of this was gone, wasn’t it? He’d given her his sonic and he seemed much more.. well, off the last time she saw him.

New York in 1938 wasn’t bad though.. despite the whole event itself. It couldn’t be bad.. maybe she had to find the good in the place and time--but not the exact time. She’d keep it distanced between the times she’d visit to avoid any sort of paradox to form. The 40s would have to do, and perhaps she’d go to Brooklyn instead. She’d heard much about it and, well, River wanted to see it for herself. She couldn’t just take others’ words for it. She was pleased when she saw Las Vegas for herself, perhaps she’d be just as pleased with this.

She’d made the few mistakes of traveling back in time whilst wearing her usual clothes. From the 53rd Century. She wouldn’t make that mistake this time though. She quickly changed into something she kept in her wardrobe, for she had all sorts of clothes for these sort of adventures, and luckily she had a dress that was quite fitting for the era. She threw a jacket over it and had gone out of her way to neaten up her wild golden curls into something neat and... well, 40s looking. She never cared to go this far, but she thought it’d be fun.

Instead of keeping her gun strapped to her side as usual, she had a sort of holster on her upper leg beneath the dress she wore to keep it concealed. There was a slit that ran from the bottom of the cloth and up a bit, so if necessary she’d be able to move the fabric to have easy access to the weapon. It never hurt to be too careful.

Flipping open her vortex manipulator she punched in the coordinates quickly before sending herself off to Brooklyn in the 40s. Landing on the side of the street she turned, looking around to all the different people and places in Brooklyn. This wasn’t too bad. She pulled the sleeve of her jacket down to conceal the vortex manipulator before making her way down along the path.

There had to be a party of some sort going on around here or something more exciting, surely. Glancing down to her manipulator, she set coordinates for later, a move of precaution to have set coordinates to escape. Her attention averted to the device, her shoulder bumped into another’s, stumbling back slightly in surprise.

“Oh, so sorry bout that!” River said quickly, looking to the man as sympathy had seeped into her gaze. “I’m ‘fraid I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.. a bit distracted, if you will.” She realized she spoke with her British accent in the middle of Brooklyn in the 40s.. it would cause more attention than she’d like, she realized.

“Bit new here, actually.”

Cybers in the Moonlight

image

“If time travel were basic we’d all be able to do it,” Daniel remarked with what might’ve been a chortle and continued his examination. If he could use one and hop to the future, he might be able to find an era with technology sophisticated enough to undo the upgrades the cybermen had made.

“I have,” Daniel agreed, “but none like this.”

He wanted to dissect it, to see what he could learn from it. But then that might cause more harm than good. After all, time wasn’t something to be played with.

“How many can it transport?” he asked looking up at her. “How far can you go?”

Image

“There’ll come a point in time where many will gain the ability to do so. There’re restrictions though that’ll develop from those who don’t listen to the rules of time travel.”

River looked to him in slightly surprise. She was sure a vortex manipulator wouldn’t have done very much to peak his interest beforehand.

“Vortex manipulators can safely transport up to perhaps.. mm..” She pursed her lips. “Safely four if everyone’s close together. The most I’ve done is just two.”

She shifted at the next question and shrugged. “Wherever I want to go and whenever. I’ve had to use it for being in different places at once, it’s a real pain honestly but it’s handy.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“Because you fainted. Are you ill? Shall we go somewhere calmer?” Erik began modifying the metal in her chair, turning it into a lounger, almost bedlike. He then began checking her vitals again.

The Master looked to Erik, almost staring for a moment too long before shaking the head he possessed, surprised by the curls following through the motion. God that had to get annoying. No wonder River seemed to have anger issues when she couldn’t maintain this beast of hair. “I’m fine, really. Wouldn’t be the first time, I think..” He trailed off, speaking whilst he reviewed some recent memories River had kept, but she was mentally putting up a fight in her head, blocking what she could. “Sorry, how’d we get here?” He questioned then.

Great. Then here's the prompt: 'Easy there'

My muse is dizzy and looks ready to pass out. send “Easy there.” For my muses reaction to yours trying to steady them.

Dazed, River’s eyelashes fluttered as she blinked several times in attempt of steadying herself, narrowing her gaze slightly as she felt the other trying to help steady her. Instinctively, she wanted to pull away, but her hands had found their way to the other’s shoulders. “What’re you helping for?” She’d asked, furrowing her eyebrows whilst attempting to look up to him properly, though being so dizzy it caused her to have a much worse headache.

“How about you start at the very beginning. How did you come to be?”

Erik was vaguely aware from Charles’s lovable old ramblings late nights about the birth of mutants, it having some attribution to the onset of the atomic age. Perhaps a similar cause created this River character.

Whatever the cause, he was eager to hear the answer.

River looked to him calmly, seeing he was actually rather intrigued.

“My mother and father.. they travel with a man named the Doctor who’s..” She crinkled up her nose, “Well, the Doctor’s not human. He’s Time Lord, the last one to be precise as far as we know.. He’s also technically my husband but at the given moment he hasn’t even an idea of who I am so..” She gave him a small smile, running a hand back through her curls. “Anywho, he has a ship, you could call it, that travels in time and space, called the TARDIS... Time and Relative Dimensions in Space.” She spoke slowly, her eyes meeting his as if to assure he was following along. “On my parents’ wedding night, they er.. well,” She couldn’t help blushing lightly with a laugh, “They having their own bit of fun in their room whilst the TARDIS was in the time vortex. When I was born, I was born then part human and part Time Lord because of the time vortex they were in.”

She couldn’t help frowning as she looked to him. “It’s odd, I know.”

"You woman what realm is this?!" Sarkhan asks approaching River while scratching the chin of the dragonling on his shoulder.

W e l l , judging by how you approach a woman in such manner and have got that,” She said, nodding towards the dragonling on his shoulder, “You really have no idea. To specify where you are exactly, you’re currently on the planet Earth.”

“There are plenty of people who see it that way, they are blind though, they do not understand that nature is multifaceted, Death and life live in balance, Black magic, they say it’s evil that its only for the corrupt the necromancers but they don’t see that hen balanced by green and when both are enhanced by red, it’s perfect.

River listened, her eyebrows raised as she remained silent and processed his words. “I see.” She said finally after he spoke. “Well, sounds like several other situations as well in different places, so this doesn’t surprise me.” Shrugging her shoulders ever so slightly, she glanced away momentarily before looking back to the man. “So you didn’t come here on purpose, did you?”

Your muse notices my muse is looking exhausted. Send “Are you sleeping okay?” to check up on them

“Just fine.” She answered dryly, blinking a few times to refocus her gaze onto him in order to keep her eyelids from shutting on her. “Is it an actual concern of yours?” She questioned, her eyes flickering away from his gaze to compose herself, not wanting to show how exhausted she felt.

“Well I haven’t got a proper place to sleep at the given moment, so, that’s out of the options. I’m fine and you are as well. I was trained into a weapon, tired or not I’m equipped for the both of us.”

He smirks finishing his food.

River had finished, placing the plate down. “Well, not going to deny that you’re a pretty good cook.. I’m a bit impressed, honestly.” She said, flashing a grin to him.

The Master growled as he was pushed into the cell by the gaurds. He turned around grabbing the bars. "I'll get out of here and i'll kill you all!" he yelled not paying any attention to the woman in the cell. "Do you hear me, I will kill each and every one of you!"

Avatar

River merely rolled her eyes as she sat, watching the man who entered the cell. Sitting on the edge of the cot, she had a leg crossed over the other, her elbow pressed against her upper leg, propping her arm up to hold her head in her hand. She gave the man a bored expression, as if this wasn’t the first time. “Won’t get to them before I will, I’m ‘fraid. Hate to break it to you sweetie, but shouting won’t do a damned thing in your favor.”

He sighs a little bit. “Alight.” he says frowning a little bit. “what do you want to do?” he asks flopping down dramatically.

River looked to him, pursing her lips. “I wouldn’t leave that up to me. I’m indecisive about many things. Then again, I dunno if I’d trust your choice in what to do out of boredom.” She teased playfully, quirking a brow as a silent dare for him to deny her words.

Send a ♢ for our muses to be involved in a sword fight (can be fighting each other,or teamed up against other opponents)

River’s eyes blazed with anger, the green brighter as they held onto Missy’s gaze just as well. “You’re supposed to be dead.” She spoke quietly, having taken a couple steps away, sword tightly gripped in hand. Unfortunately, it was the only weapon she could grab, but she held it up diagonally across her own frame, her legs parted and knees bent, prepared for any move now from Missy.

Avatar

“Yes well I have a nasty habit of staying alive when people think I’m dead.” Missy grinned and glared back at River.  “ Now this is fun a sword fight, oh my dear I hope you know how to use that.” Missy gripped her own sword and raised it to chest level, pointing the tip at River. “So are we going to fight or what, I’m rearing to fight someone, not even bothered that its the Doctors Wife, although not sure how the Doctor would react if I kill you…”

River narrowed her gaze at Missy over the sword she had pointed at her chest. She instinctively bent her free arm to keep behind her back.  “He might just be a wee bit angered with you. Not to mention I’m also his best friends’ daughter. You’ll have the Doctor to worry about,” She started, abruptly raising her sword to push the other blade aware from her. A smirk played along her lips, tilting her head back to look down to Missy. “And my parents.” She always loved her parents and had such high respect for them. Her mother was where she got her fiery attitude at least.

That blow had been meant for him. That single life-altering blow. "RIVER!" Struggling to his feet, Daniel trudged to her side as fast as his damaged legs could carry him. He knelt beside her with a clunk and attempted to scan her body. "Why did you do that?" he croaked, assessing her injuries, "Why?"

Avatar

“That’s not important.” She gave a quiet groan and waved a hand off towards him, using the hand then to press against the floor to push herself up with effort, making a face in the process. She turned her head, allowing the curls to conceal her face and the struggle of it all. “It’s.. it’s nothing to worry about.” She managed to breathe out.

If Daniel had been human, he might’ve smiled.

Good, help’s on the way then,’ he thought, when his mind halted at the thought.

“River,” he droned, slowing as they approached the doors to the outside. “I’m a cyberman. Anyone who comes is going to try to terminate me for fear that I might revert and begin the upgrade process all over again. And with my body the way it is, I might not be able to resist them.”

He stopped at the curb just beyond the doors and looked down at his friend. He didn’t want to leave her, but when it came to cybermen, no one gave quarter. Logic demanded that he depart and head back to the garage, but his humanity refused.

Gently he eased her down onto the curb. He didn’t need his sensors to remind him how grievously hurt she was - or the reason that she’d gotten this way.

I hope I don’t regret this,’ he thought and sat down himself

image

River had realized this, seeming to pale whilst processing what he’d said.

She shook her head, unable to speak properly. She gave a rough cough, her head turning away slightly as she did so.

Looking up to Daniel then, her eyes were widened. She quickly shook her head. “But.. they can’t.. you.. you’re not..” She was breathless, taking a sharp breath, biting her lip to silence herself. She couldn’t be in this much pain visibly..

As he’d eased her down onto the curb, she began to move but feeling the sting race across her body in warning, she held still and allowed him to. “Daniel--” She picked herself up a bit more, looking to him as he’d sat down as well.

“You can’t stay then, Daniel.. you can’t risk it--!” She said, panic rising. No one would stop to listen either, she could already safely assume.
