In light of recent bird app events... hello again! It's been a hot second since I've been on tumblr.

I'm Marc or Dusty - designer, artist, costumer, streamer, TTRPG creator, and Maker of Neat Stuff. You might recognize me from my Disney+ documentary, various Marvel shorts, or that one viral winter soldier cake from the tumblr of yore.

I've got several *years* worth of stuff I never posted here, but in the mean time, here's some neat stuff I've made/done recently.

Long time no Loki 👀

I originally made the TVA costume on a whim in the 48 hours before the NYC premier. But shooting him recently in NYC was a great excuse to make a few updates ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀

(And thank you to @/thedangerousladies for having the best of the dagger files I found to make 3D printed props in 12 hours or less 😶‍🌫️)

Realized I forgot to post my Qifrey cloak medallion model(s) here! I 3d modeled a comic accurate one, but ended up getting inspired by the beautiful buttons I bought and made a new one to match them instead.

Sometimes I end up impulsively making a prop just because I think it’s neat. Olruggio’s Searneedle wasn’t originally part of our build plans but… I 3d modeled it on a twitch stream and here we are 😅 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you SO much to Reiukos for grabbing this lovely little detail shot at Katsu as modeled by @viciousfrockery And if you want your OWN, the files are up on my etsy along with a bunch of other WHA stuff ✒️💫

While Vic was tackling our cloaks, I was working on our accessories. I knew I wanted to add detail and texture to Olruggio’s belt, but ended up letting the process guide me. I’ve never tooled veg tan leather before, but had a basic set of tools. So I started with the major shapes from the comic that would make the belt read, then started adding textures like the organic grain on the band and the burst on the disks.

I also knew that I wanted the belt to be adjustable. But it has no visible closure in the comic and you guys know I RELISH clever cosplay engineering. So not only do the disks sit on Chicago screws that can be changed to one of three invisible holes on each side, the disks themselves secretly vecro to the center piece for both micro-adjustment and easy on/off.

To “stain” the leather, I actually started with gold angelus leather paint I had on hand. Which was a great base, but didn’t really bring out any of the tooling or leather texture, so I experimented on scrap pieces and eventually found that dabbing on a layer of normal brown stain and immediately wiping it off highlighted the piece BEAUTIFULLY (and brought the gold down a little while warming it up)

Immensely happy with this belt! I want to tool more leather ASAP 👀
