Hello! Any chance the deadline might be extended? I feel like the past volumes had a much longer window between call for submissions and closing.
The deadline was based on my own schedule, as I am fully booked with doing a 10 page comic for a queer history anthology, pieces for two zines, and keeping up with my own webcomic on top of travelling, doing shows, and my dayjob to pay my bills. If I am going to be crowdfunding this like the two previous times, I need to plan ahead accordingly so I can organize it and get the book together.
Can anyone of any background make a submission? Or, for example, are only people of x gender allowed to submit?
Anyone who is a not a cis male is preferred to submit, though cis men can if they so choose.
This zine series was created because I was tired and disgusted with the way cis male artists and photographers portrayed muscular women in a hyper-sexualized, objectified manner, and what’s worse is it was the only type of depiction l could find. Being someone of a very athletic background and wanting positive, non-degrading representation of people who looked like me, I aim for this zine to be by people who are not cis males, but most importantly, to have positive representation. If you are a cis male and can do that, then that’s great.
Hello! Can we submit an OC that's based on a particular show/comic type of alien (for example a homestuck fantroll, or a gem OC/gemsona)?
I’m allowing it, but please keep in mind original art is preferred. I’m not aiming for this book to be a collection of fantrolls/gemsonas.
Hey there, I have another question! The program I use to draw can open the PDF file for the template, but can't save it again as a PDF. Is it alright if I submit as a PSD, PNG, or JPEG?
If you absolutely cannot send it as a PDF, a high-quality JPEG is fine. Make sure it still has the CMYK color profile.
how humanoid do the aliens have to be? can they be buff but also really xeno (such as having a non human face and strange yet muscular anatomy and whatnot)
I’d like to err on the side of creativity, so they don’t have to be strictly humanoid.
hello! I have this original species I made for one of my stories and I thinking in drawing something of them, basically, they are like humanoid horned reptilians, but I worried it might appear more like fantasy genre than alien like
Do these aliens have a culture? Do they have their own style of art and fashion? What does their planet look like? What does the architecture of their buildings look like? Think about questions like those and adjust accordingly when working on your submission if you’re worried about it coming off too fantasy-like.

hi sorry if this is a dumb question, but i got the template and it's a pdf? i'm not sure how to open this in photoshop. do you have a psd instead? or how does this work? thanks!!
I saved it as a Photoshop PDF so it still has separate layers, since PDFs print better than JPGs and have a smaller file size than full PSDs. You should be able to draw directly on top of it and add new layers. Let me know if you’re having more issues.
hi, i have a question: do all the characters in your piece have to be aliens, or could you do say, a story about a human meeting an alien?
The buff woman has to be the alien, not the human. Other than that, anything goes.
