First date [RP art thread pt 18]
Mets had been watching Femme while she reminisced about her past, so glad to see she was happy and enjoying herself. He didn’t quite realize he was staring. “You’re more than welcome, Femme.”
Her following questions caught him off guard.
He knew she didn’t mean to ruin the mood, and really, it wasn’t ruined to him, just a touchy subject for him, and any Mewtwo.
“Well... To be perfectly honest...” He started, sighing a bit.
He looked down at the rock beneath his feet, his expression deep and sad. “What I’m about to tell you, no one else knows. I did tell my wife shortly after we were married but, no one else is supposed to know. It’s better if they don’t know.”
“We Mewtwo, I know you’re aware, are all genetically crafted from the DNA of Mew. Human-made pokemon. We just... don’t exist naturally. So while there might be other mewtwo living in the wild like us, not one of us was born there, and if they say otherwise, they’re lying.”
He leaned his head back, looking up at the sky now, then closed his eyes.
“The first thing I remember is.... cruel words.”
“I hadn’t even opened my eyes yet... floating in space and in my mind... I was... flawed, by their standards. Something didn’t go right in my creation. I was weak, I was slow to develop... To them, I was a waste of resources and not worth keeping. They would have rather throw me out like trash.”
“When I finally did open my eyes, I’m not sure how long later, The first sight was a pair of humans fighting.”
“My time was running out, and the scientist defending me was running out too. A lot of what happened after is a blur to me... too much happening at once for my young and weak mind to comprehend.”
He sighed again, furrowing his brow, though he kept his eyes closed, thinking back on it. “But that human that was trying to give me a chance... He stole me from the lab, whatever lab it was... Took me away from there, hid me... we went from place to place for who knows how long, and he protected me from everyone, kept me secret while trying to teach me what I needed to know to survive.”
“Maybe it was a few days, maybe a few weeks, maybe a few months... I don’t know how long... but eventually we were caught while travelling across the sea. I was hidden in a crate, keeping quiet like I was taught... but I saw through the holes. They’d waited until a stormy night during the journey... Men in dark clothes and sunglasses found the scientist, demanded answers. He didn’t tell them anything. They did something to him... and he fell to the floor of the deck. Then they started breaking open all the luggage and supply crates looking for me. No one heard any of it because of the storm...”
“I did the only thing I could think of. I attacked.”
“They fought dirty. They used human devices and weapons... not even pokemon. They wanted to catch me and either kill me, or take me back and use me. I didn’t know... During the fight, I took too much damage... I still wasn’t strong enough, but I had come so far, I wasn’t going to let it end so soon. When I knew I couldn’t fight anymore, I jumped.”
“The storming seas carried me further and further away from the boat while I struggled to keep above water. I was already weak. I went under, took in too much water, started sinking...”
He leaned forward again, resting his forehead against his knees for a moment, then sat up again.
“When I came to, I was on the beach back there.” He pointed with a thumb over his shoulder back towards the main island. “Somehow I had survived it all and washed up in a safe place. Guild pokemon found me and brought me to town, got me fixed up, gave me a warm welcome... Ever since then I’ve been a member of the guild myself, training and working hard to get stronger, to keep living now that I knew I really had the chance. I never told anyone where I came from... and no one asked.”
“Humans can be terrible... but the fact that just one probably lost his life trying to protect me, who was too weak to be worth anything to anyone, it showed me that there are always good hearts out there. There are good humans, and even the good ones sometimes make mistakes. You just got to give everyone a chance to show their true colors... and keep on fighting. protect those that need it, and fight with those that can.”
He couldn’t help but give her a smile now. “Afterall, That human gave me what he wanted to. I lived, and grew strong, I found love and lost it, I raised a family, which I never thought possible. I’ve experienced ups and downs and the good and the bad, everything that makes life what it is. Without him I wouldn’t be here right now... I wouldn’t be with you.”
