Hey friends. I'm on vacation, so I woke up late today and put a bit of Irish whiskey in my coffee and I feel compelled to say a few things (although, generally speaking, I tend to avoid social media whenever possible).
Firstly, 2015 has been an incredible year for us. Andy and I have been lucky enough to have many friends help us through several transitions the past few years, but Luke and Jenny have been our true ride-or-die heads of 2015 and their contributions cannot be underestimated. We've continued to work with incredible people like Jessi of Father/Daughter Records, and with new friends like Mike of Piaptk Ltdedrecords. We had a chance to open for the legendary Descendents (Official), courtesy of some really amazing people who work for Converse Rubber Tracks, people who have gone to bat for us more than once, and shown deep respect for my requests/demands re: our creative control and performance needs. These opportunities are once-in-a-lifetime, pinch-me-I'm-dreaming, someone-tell-15-year-old-me-that-it-will-get-better shit, and I don't have the words to express my gratitude.
We also managed to make what I consider to be the best record I've ever been a part of, and WAY MORE about that will be forthcoming in early 2016. I absolutely have to give thanks and praise to Elio DeLuca and to the Soul Shop generally, though: I couldn't ask for a better place in which to be trapped during a raging blizzard.
I also need to thank YOU for coming to shows, sending us nice messages, collaborating with us, taking flattering (and even unflattering) photos of us playing, buying our music, downloading our music, borrowing our music from the library, sharing our music with your friends, blasting our music in your car, making out while our music is playing in the background, tabbing our music out for the internets, etc. How could I explain what that means to me? I can't, but it makes me feel like some type of way for sure. Part of something? Capable of communicating with you across time and space? Sure. All of that. Thank you to my friends and family for all of the support, as well.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to Andy, the best friend and musical partner I could ever hope to work with. So much love for that talented, hilarious, tall drink of bish. Here's to a fucked-up, outstanding, exciting, joyful 2016. heart emoticon -B
