Boogie Nights (dir. PT Anderson, 1997)

I love when the camera just hangs on their faces and leaves that unsubtle convenient empty space next to them. They’ve been missing someone; they could fit. It’s not exactly romantic. I’ve always loved what PT Anderson films had to say about family–that when abandoned, lonely people reach out for one another, the unconditional love that’s created is as delicate and as intense as love created by blood. It’s an active choice.
