This is why people complain about figure skating and refuse to accept it as a true sport due to subjectivity in judging. These photos show the exact same element being executed, with noticeable differences in quality and unison. - Virtue and Moir executed all elements with top quality, and competed with power, precision, and performance. They set a world record with 83.67 points. - Papadakis and Cizeron came out right after, and she unfortunately suffered a wardrobe malfunction early on (but handled it like a pro). Their performance quality was noticeably affected, however they scored higher than the other team on performance. A very noticeable mistake was made on an element (for which they received all positive execution marks). They ended up less than 2 points behind this world record skate at 81.93 points. Huge kudos to how the unfortunate incident was handled, but until mistakes are properly reflected in the marks, skating will be laughed at and dismissed.
