Major Events Timeline
This list is not all-inclusive and will be added to where seen fit. I apologize for the length in advance. Includes canon and headcanon-based details. **denotes canon divergence in regards to main verse plotted with xprogenitor.
1383 – 1402: Born the second daughter of an up-and-coming architect, Selene lives the life of any mortal farm girl: adventurous and mischievous and always daydreaming.
1386-1389: Selene’s father, Peter Kowacz, is commissioned to construct an elaborate dungeon beneath one of Viktor’s many fortresses. This dungeon, intended for William’s eventual imprisonment, serves as a playground for Selene and her older sister, Cecilia.
Winter, 1402: Lucian’s escape with Sonja’s pendant, one half of the secret key to William’s cell, leads to Viktor’s paranoia regarding all those who know the fortress’s location and layout. Viktor, Soren, and Kraven, under the veil of night, invade the Kowacz farm and butcher everyone on site. Selene becomes last surviving member of the Kowacz family and becomes a Vampire.
1402-1566: The power of the Vampire Nation rises at an all-time high under the steady, merciless policy of Viktor’s command. Vampires engage in strong relations with their Human counterparts, offering protection in wartime against not only the forces of Lycan hoards, but also the Ottoman usurpers. Selene leads the charge in most things Lycan-related, not at all often concerned with affairs of human politics. However, disputes over territory and taxes often led to conflict with Ottomans anyway. The Vampires help to arm, train, and protect humans under their rule, extending so far a hand for assistance all the way to Wallachia, where notorious Vlad the Impaler beats back the Turkish army.
1888 – 1891: Engaged in a cat-and-mouse game against one of history’s most notorious and elusive serial killers–and lost. After the murder of countless more women than the media called and the death of a rookie Death Dealer, Selene and The Ripper met for their final showdown in an abandoned factory along the Thames; though both words and blows were exchanged, Jack the Ripper escaped with his life, leaving Selene to scramble from the burning building. Blown from a high window and landing on a pile of scrap metal, Selene nearly died. It was Nathaniel who found her, impaled through the chest and hypovolemic. Selene still bears the scar where the rusted pipe grazed her heart.
1944: Pauses the already dwindling war on Lycans in order to participate in several covert guerrilla operations against Axis powers, teaming up with vampire patriarch Wladislaus Dragwlya on multiple occasions.
Turn of the Century, 2000: Once again comes head-to-head against the surviving Jack the Ripper in Las Vegas. Selene travels to the modern world feigning interest in Amelia’s plans to unite the New and Old World Covens, seeking vengeance and justice for former victims. Selene finally emerges victorious at the deaths of several allies and moves to finally put the killer to death but is intercepted by Amelia. Jack is named a criminal against the Vampire Nation on dozens of counts and allegedly executed.
October 2001: Selene learns the truth about her family, about the war between Lycans and Vampires and Viktor’s role within it. Subsequently lays to waste any party involved, determined to punish and subdue those who try to target newfound ally Michael Corvin and herself. Becomes the first Vampire-Corvinus hybrid.
November 2001: News of the Coven stronghold’s dismantling sends subsequent branches of the Vampire nation into disarray. Battle for power and leadership is causation for vampires to split off and attempt independence. The Immortal Underworld was a fragile veneer, one meant to prevent human contact. Without the Cleaners and proper leadership, and without constraints dictating proper behavior, many vampires act with few moral qualms, feed openly, and care little for assimilation into society. Selene and Michael Corvin take action only in times of danger or obvious conflict; ousted by both Lycan and vampire society, neither feel particularly inclined to help.
Spring 2002: Unlawful and exposed activity of inner (vampire) and outer (Lycan) conflict come to a peak, spilling out into Human attention for the final time. The Hungarian government, with the approval of the UN, declares martial law and begins a series of mass killings seeking to eradicate the inhuman species. Antigen, an alleged biotech pharmaceutical company suggests that a second Purge targeting only Vampires is necessary. Selene and Michael Corvin are apprehended by Antigen forces and suspended by cryogenic means.
Winter 2002: Subject 2, whose zygote was incubated in a false womb, is born.
Winter 2014**: Selene is awakened from slumber by Subject 2 and escapes into a world she no longer recognizes. Her own research, collaboration with Detective Sebastian, and the poor excuse for a surviving Coven leads her to realize Michael is still captive in the Lycan stronghold. Selene launches an all-out assault against Antigen in order to rescue her family. With Eve and David close in tow, Selene tracks Michael to the borders of Hungary. She is intercepted by Lucian before she can further pursue the hybrid; in exchange for discretion, Lucian offers sanctuary in a Lycan monastery hidden in the German countryside.
2014-2022**: Selene spends the next eight years in the safety of the monastery. Although she agrees to begrudging civility with Lucian’s following, she does it only with the sole intent of keeping the children safe while continuing the search for Michael. Her goals, after a time, do not remain so clear and unmarred — and Lucian, for all of his painstaking sentimentality, provides her with an offer, with an idea, a philosophy: tentative coexistence among the Immortal species, if not alliance.
2022-2024**: After yet another manhunt for Michael fails and leaves everyone more than disturbed, Eve flees the protection that the monastery and the fellowship that her mother, Lucian, David, and the Lycans have offer. Angry and grieving for the daughter she never asked for, Selene besmirches the entirety of the efforts and strides made in the last decade. She spends the next two years on the run from both friend and foe alike. This is a dark period for her, as she contemplates death, loneliness, and her identity without a war to rage. Marius subsequently rises to power and begins the hunt for blood.
Winter 2024: The Great Battle sees the war finally come to an end. Selene is elected as Grand Elder of the what remains of the Vampire Nation. She grieves quietly for Michael, grieves what she has lost within herself and longs to learn what a second life has yet to grant her. For a number of months, Selene remains in Var Dohr, where she meditates on her newfound gifts and abilities and comes to terms with the duties that now lay upon her shoulders.
