Fandom is not your safe space.

Nor should fandom be your safe space. Fandom is for people to explore all sorts of possibilities in fiction and art. Not all of those possibilities are going to be fluffy, “wholesome,” “healthy,” “uplifting,” or whatever other adjective the Morality Brigade here on Tumblr wants to trot out.

Fiction is not reality. Depiction is not endorsement. No, it may never be “just a movie/fic/artwork,” but that does not make it reality. Fiction serves particular purposes, and one of them is to permit us to vicariously experience certain dangerous or otherwise unpleasant things safely.

If you believe that the purpose of fiction is to “uplift” us and fiction that does not is wrong and bad, congratulations: You’re a right-winger. (Or maybe you’re on the extreme left. When you get that far out to the ends of the spectrum, it doesn’t matter.)

If you think that anyone who writes or reads noncon is a rapist or rape apologist, you are too stupid for words. If you think that anyone who ships an incest ship or an adult/teen ship is an apologist for incest or pedophilia, you are too stupid for words.

It is none of your business what other people write, draw, and ship. Let me repeat that: It is none of your business what other people write, draw, and ship. You do not get to tell them they’re “trash,” you do not get to concern-troll them with passive-aggressive nonsense like “love yourself more uwu,” and you absolutely do not get to harass them off Tumblr or elsewhere.

Also, their past trauma or lack thereof is none of your business, either. Nobody has to present their “cred” as a rape or incest survivor before they’re allowed to enjoy fanworks that don’t meet with your approval. Total strangers don’t owe you their backstories. For that matter, not even your friends owe you every detail of their backstories. Mind your own business.

Don’t want to see all this “problematic” content on your dash or elsewhere? Unfollow people. Learn how to use Tumblr Savior, XKit, AO3 Savior, and similar tools. Control your own online experience. It is not the responsibility of others on this site to take care of you, who are a total stranger to them. Given how heavily female Tumblr skews, such demands are nothing but reinforcement of the expectation that women are supposed to take care of everyone else but themselves. (Yes, women are still oppressed as a class, even before you factor in intersectionalities.)

It’s amusing how some of you have the “courage” to dogpile, harass, and stalk others on this website whose taste doesn’t meet your oh-so-pure standards. People who create fanworks are soft, easy targets to kinkshame, aren’t they? Especially when, again, most of them are not cis straight men. Women have been policed and shamed throughout history for exploring their own sexuality — including by other feminists. The 1980s were full of feminists policing other feminists:

Often conflated with radical feminism, antiporn feminism grew out of radical feminism in the late ‘70s and early '80s—as did its counterpart, pro-sex feminism. The feminist porn wars of the '80s are largely forgotten to the general public by now, but at the time they were heated, divisive, and intensely personal. In 1982, Barnard College’s Center for Research on Women held a conference called “Towards a Politics of Sexuality,” which was picketed by antiporn feminists for including explorations of s&m and overall pro-sex viewpoints along with discussions of race and sexuality as well as sexual history (many of which were published in the 1983 anthology Powers of Desire: The Politics of Sexuality).

Yes, sex-positive feminism was eventually co-opted by patriarchal forces, but it started out because a great many feminists were heartily tired of radfems telling them they were “traitors” and “brainwashed” for liking anything but the blandest, most euphemistic, and most painfully egalitarian erotica. (If you like that sort of thing, more power to you. Your tastes don’t make you better than the rest of us.)

Getting back to the here and now, I don’t see you going over to 4chan or Reddit with these morality campaigns. More importantly, I don’t see you organizing to go after big media corporations, especially those whose TV shows, movies, and books help form the toxic backdrop of misogyny, racism, rape culture, homophobia, transphobia, and similar bigotries behind everyday modern life. The occasional blogpost calling out this animator or that author, no matter how many notes it gets, is not the same thing as an organized campaign.

No, harassing David Gaider off Tumblr doesn’t count, not when Bioware makes more of an effort with social justice in its games than any other game company does. You can scream all you want about how “allies suck.” You need them in the real world, beyond the hothouse environment of Tumblr. If people in general could be trusted to do the right thing for the right reasons all the time, without pressure, there would be no need for any kind of activism at all.

Nor does screaming “pedophile” at John Green and insinuating that any grown man who reaches out to teenage girls is “creepy.” Yes, his “cool dad” act is annoying, and his books leave a lot to be desired. Have you considered that such outreach is part of his job as a YA writer? Have you also considered that stigmatizing men for trying to be mentors to adolescents, when you have no evidence that they’re actually perverts, reinforces traditional gender roles?

Tl;dr: Fandom is not your safe space. Tumblr is not your safe space. AO3 sure as fuck isn’t your safe space. People will post things you don’t like in all three spaces, which they have every right to do. Get over it, grow the fuck up, take responsibility for your own mental health, and stop confusing your oversized sense of entitlement with “social justice.”

This is a theory regarding Sakura’s character assasination considering the content from Naruto Gaiden Hell first chapter.

Let’s look at it objectively.

Straight to the point, I think Sakura will die soon after. She is shown to be weak and helpless [ and old?? ]. With all the drama her supposed family is facing and having had that one panel right there that says “Ever since she was a kid she’s always had a penchant for passing out” clearly Kishimoto is trying to get rid of her [ otherwise why waste that panel with something that all his readers know isn’t real since Naruto’s 1st series and establish that supposed to be fact right there? ] Remember all those times that Kishimoto mentioned in a lot of interviews that he just can’t make fans like Sakura no matter what he do. I guess he found his answer, how when what?

Here’s how:

By killing Sakura’s character. She’ll die of exhaustion and stress or whatever and Sasuke’s not gonna be able to make it. Next chapter’s title is “Sasuke Returns” he might catch a little time with Sakura or maybe not but I’m kinda leaning towards the idea of Sakura being a martyr her whole life and only then will Sasuke feel a little bit of gratitude or guilt tripping you pick.

When:

I don’t expect it to happen right in the next chapter but maybe after things become clear between Sarada and Karin, let me tell you I don’t even think that having Karin’s mystery in the chapter is the point of the story, it’s trying to build on Sasuke and Sakura’s relationship in a fucked up way. It will turn out that Sarada is indeed Sakura’s daughter and then throw some tragic sacrifices and cliche conditions and then baam Sakura will be glorified as a mother and SS will have a happy ending and then Sakura’s life will be taken. I believe it’s the perfect time to do so, [ he did it with Naruto’s parents after sealing the Kyuubi inside him without thinking of any consequences then killed them right on the spot so it’d look heroic ] If Kishimoto at least wants to pay respect to Sakura and her fans at least she’ll die having that impression as the woman who endured everything [ yes a bold endured cause it seems to be Kishimoto’s favorite word, seriously how sadistic can you get? ]

What:

Clearly this is just a theory and should be taken as a grain of salt but assuming things lead this way then Kishimoto would have been able to get rid of Sakura at least in a decent way as far as i’m concerned as clearly he doesn’t need her anymore [ especially without that clinic that she was supposed to be having but it can’t be helped since she’s too busy dusting and doing the laundry ]

And if things go the other way around and turn out that Karin is truly her biological mother then that would mean i have wasted my time typing this stupid theory but nonetheless i would look forward to it more if Karin really were Salad’s mama.

Please don’t get me wrong though, I am not anti-sakura nor anti-karin. Just my two cents on what might happen in the near future.

God, if this happens I’m going to Japan and torching Kishi’s place.

I’d do so much more if I were you after wasting travel money for that!

Well of course I’d go sightseeing before they arrested me, haha.

a ShikaSaku fanfiction search

Looking for a ShikaSaku story I read years ago. It was on fanfiction.net. As far as I remember the plot was this. Ino bets Sakura to kiss Shikamaru thinking he’ll refuse her. Instead Shika and Sakura make out and then Shikamaru is like “I thought we’re keeping this relationship secret.” I remember that this story was only tagged with Shikamaru as a character to keep the girlfriend secret. I can’t find iiit.

I think that this might be the fic you are looking for!  https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6259910/1/Secrets_Sake_and_Funloving_Teammates

Yessss, yes it is. Thank you very much!

Mine as well, it’s my ultimate Naruto rare pair. :D

I’m actually wondering how far are they planning to go with the anime. Because if they are going to base it on Arakawa’s manga adaptation this would be a very short anime series. They’d barely cover what the first and second movies were able to cover.

Maybe the same situation as with FMA will happen. They'll go as far as Arakawa's manga is and then they'll split the story. Though the plus here is that there has been an adaptation before, also a novel and also it's based on a story, so they have a lot to work with.

Naruto still calls sakura: Sakura chan , he still very close to her  and he still funny with her in front of Hinata.

Hinata  did not destroy their friendship between narusaku that s mean she did not disband team 7. they are friends and they will stay friends AND Hinata is a part of their friendship . DEAL WITH IT

crying :’)

Addams Family Values (1993)

Gomez knows how its fucking done.

Gomez gives out better relationship advice than like 90% of dudes.

Gomez Addams is a suave motherfucker who loves his wife more than his own life.

Everyone should want a Gomez. He’s p cool.

Gomez and Morticia Addams actually have a very loving and extremely healthy relationship, both in the old TV show and in the more recent movies. They were also one of the first television couples to be shown to have an active (albeit offscreen) sex life. Their frank attitude towards sexuality was shocking in its’ time, but their relationship and their family dynamic is actually more functional and more…dare I say it…sane than most families portrayed on TV.

The comedy in the show came from the family’s “odd” lifestyle, rather than from infighting and petty bickering, or worse, as was common on other shows of the time, thinly veiled references to spousal abuse. They didn’t make fun of each other or act like their children were creatures from another world. Were they strange and outside of social norms? Yes. Were they united in creating a loving home and being good, supportive parents? Absolutely.

These two support and adore their children, care for an aging mother and an estranged brother, put family before everything, and they love each other, wholly, fiercely, without reserve. They are every bit as much in love after at least a decade of marriage as they were the day they met.

Relationship goals. LIFE goals.

Just remembered in the second movie when their third child became “normal” for a period and although they were shocked and didn’t know how to handle it, they didn’t mistreat the child or love it any less. They accepted the difference, even though it was hard for them.
