"I’ve only had a few out in the Meadow with Buttercup. It’s really fun, when you get over the pebbles underneath you. There are loads of stars and it’s really quiet, which is really nice."
"...I might have to try that. It's not dangerous, is it?"
"Well, obsessions can be good as long as you don’t get too obsessed. I can have a look for you, though. As I said, I haven’t travelled a lot yet,” she commented, soon emerging from where she was fixing the part of the ship. “I could have a look if you like, though. I don’t mind.”
She frowned as she looked over him, biting her lip slightly. He seemed like just a kid. What was he doing on a ship like this? “Why are you here, exactly?”
"Just stopping by. It was an accident, really. I fell through a sort of... hole in space and landed up here. Wasn't very good for the ship, either. I have a lot to fix before I get moving again."
"But what about you? What's a time traveler doing here, of all places?"

"Then I won’t…." Prim glanced down with him. It was nice, knowing that Ender was okay. Well, other than his ankle, of course, but she could fix that. He’d live, maybe be a little sore, but he’d be okay.
"Well, he wasn’t crying or torn up like your sister. But he wasn’t celebrating either. I mostly just paid attention to Valentine."
"Really? I thought he would've... That's not like Peter at all."
At least, it wasn't like the Peter he thought he knew. Valentine's response was predictable, of course, but the fact that his other sibling hadn't made his pleasure known was unusual and unnerving.
"What about my mum? How did she act?"
"Okay, I’m glad you think so, because if not I would’ve probably had to spend most of the time apologizing," she said with a sheepish smile.
"A secret?" she repeated, with a hint of excitement in her voice. "Well, if you’re willing to give me your trust, then I won’t betray it."
"Alright. I'll tell you then."
It took several moments for him to gather his thoughts; but when he had finished, he launched into his story.
"I used to work for an army for kids. It was a- a unique experience, and when I graduated, I became an admiral." He paused for half a moment, then continued. "Now I have one job. You see this bag? There's something extremely special inside of it, and I have to get it to a place where no one can find it. Not ever."
"Then prove it. Empty out your pockets."
"But- but I don't have it. It's not like it could fit in my pockets anyway."
"Really? Wha’ are they? Ah don’t have family t’ speak of. They’re dead, or don’t want anything t’ do with me. An’ even if Ah still had them, Ah’m no’ sure Ah’d kill billions o’ sentient creatures t’ protect them."
"You may not have a family, but I do. And I've given them a promise that I intend to keep. You can stop studying. You can drop out. But I've got to carry this through the whole way."
She shrugged, pushing her hair out of her face. “I could guess,” she offered, “but I’d probably end up insulting you.”
"No, please guess." Curiosity had gotten the better of him, and he was genuinely intrigued.
I want to talk about how excited I am to reach 1,000 followers on my Primrose Everdeen account! Prim and I are so excited people like us and think we are worthy of being on their dashboards! I never knew I’d meet so many lovely people that are the coolest, learn a lot about tumblr and things, improve my writing, and people that actually think I’m a cool cucumber (which I’m still figuring out how I convinced 1,000 people that I’m cool). I love all of you that have been with me through ups and downs of my life as a teenage girl. And I can’t wait for the fantastic threads, conversations, and friendships in the future!
