I’m screaming??? So my cat knows I get upset when he steps on my paintings (not yelling or anything I think he just sees me spend hours trying to cover up what his paws do) in my “studio” which is a crammed small storage closet with painting all over the floor drying , so like I’m in there rn and I saw him try to get to point A to point b but it was impossible for him to jump over so like he realized the matte parts were dry and like he was stepping on the corners of the painting and every step he’d look at his paw to see if he fucked up and honestly it was the most thoughtful thing ever I don’t ever wanna hear anyone ever say that cats don’t care
oh my goodness what a kind little beastlet
please tell your cat i love him
Get domesticated, you cold idiot.
"There's hope for you yet."

This is an always reblog for me.
Alek Wek at Betsey Johnson FW 1998
I’ve seen this before, and I always thought it was planned by Betsy Johnson, that they had this sort of “choreographed defiance.” But I was pleased after some research to learn this was a completely spontaneous act of protest by fashion model Alek Wek;
In 1998, while walking in a Betsey Johnson runway show, she threw off the blonde wig that she’d been styled in. In a recent interview with the BBC, she reflected on the moment saying, “that wig was not just about me taking it off to make a scene. It was a time that I was just starting in fashion, to work. And the one thing that I told my agents was if you are going to represent me, I’m not going to be a gimmick and be in for a couple of seasons. You’re going to take it all or leave it.” Today that moment has become a very literal symbol of rebelling against a European standard of beauty.

#real #not to be salty but this is what ive been saying#like everyone out here really still acting like fanfic isnt really writing#like its subpar and like it cant be good and have amazing lines#even fanfic writers treat it like its LESS and like theyre PLAY writing and not actually writing#like friend buddy ican ASSURE YOU that fanfic is every bit as real and good as writing from books#the only difference between fic and actual books is that books go through several stages of processing and editing and filtering#and are worked on by professionals who studied the craft of editing#while fanfiction cuts that filtering and everyone gets a chance to be heard and to be read#and instead of editors we have peer editing and reviewing#dont be fucking tricked by the mass notion that anything that young girls and queer people are interested in is immediately bad and subpar#bc it is fucking not #i will FIGHT for it #fanfiction (tags by @crossroadswrite bacause they add so much to this post)
Someone commented on a Wangxian fic of mine; told me they keep a notebook of sayings and phrases that deeply move them - and that my fic had given them plenty to put in their notebook.
When I tell you my heart LURCHED in my chest…!
I still get misty-eyed over it.
I still have that rejection letter from Tor Books from over 20 years ago. There was a handwritten note saying that it wasn’t right at the time.
I went back and made it even more queer and poly and neurodivergent since then.
All my fanfics feature those elements alongside the psionics.
I still remember how moved I was when, over a decade ago, a reader of one of my Rurouni Kenshin stories asked permission to use a quote from it as her senior yearbook quote.
…the fact that high school kids are writing fanfiction and telling each other enough to make senior quotes still amazes me. In the 90s nobody was supposed to know you wrote fanfiction.
In 1998 for my creative writing major, I wrote a semi autobiographical story where the main character had the Ninja Turtles in her head as her imaginary cheering squad. I got a high grade but a lot of teasing from the class, because “why would you use fictional characters like that? That’s so weird!”
