The light from the small lamp helps, and she watches Steve as he moves. She’s already begun removing the belt encircling her waist, and she clicks her tongue as he instructs her. “I used to be a nurse, you know.” Her voice is only mildly teasing, but otherwise laced with concern. She holds his arm gently while she ropes the belt over his shoulder and under his other arm, crossing his body with his arm over his torso. She notches the belt to a point where it’s tight but not enough to hurt him. “I’m fine,” she murmurs as she catches him looking at her temple. “And your arm does not just have a scratch, Steve.” After his arm is taken care of, she moves back and grabs his shield and a brick, banging them once together. An almost deafening noise fills the air and Peggy winces. “Christ,” she curses, shaking her head briskly. “Either they’ll find us in time or we’ll be deaf before they do.” She sighs and adjusts her angle. The banging is still loud, but not as deafening as it had been moments ago. “Hey!” She calls out between bangs. The shield and brick collide for a little while before Peggy pauses, turning to face Steve. “You know, they don’t want to lose you either,” she says simply. “I certainly don’t want to lose you.” She thinks for a moment before leaning into him, pressing her lips to his in a kiss. Breaking it, she meets his bright blue eyes. “Forgive me,” she says simply. “It felt like the right thing to do.”

He closes his eyes for a moment as she fixes his arm against his body. “I didn’t know, but it’s good to get to know you a little better, even though the circumstance could be better.” again he tries to lighten the mood, still hoping to be able to make this all a little better something. “Are you feeling nauseous? You could still have a concussion.” even when she says she’s okay, he can’t help but worry. At the banging noise he winces. “Being deaf still sounds better than being dead in my opinion. And trust me, you got the bain, so that makes you more important than the soldier with a little muscle.” He can’t help but smile at her comment and just as he was about to get up, she presses her lips to his, blinking at her for a moment before he finds his voice again. “It wasn’t unwelcome.” Steve murmurs with a small smile. “Though, maybe you’ll have to do it again later. Bloodloss will make me believe that this was just a dream.” with a grunt he crawls his way forward to the rubble, starting to put the bricks aside, occasionally hissing as he moves his shoulder too much. “I hope they’ll find us soon ‘cause that metal in my shoulder is getting annoying.”
