What was the moment that made you sydrichie stan?

well, I was done with season one and I wanted to read some fic, and I wasn't really vibing with the sydcarmy fics out there. then I read a few season 1 era sydrichie fics and I was like "ooh, nice, i love the hatesex vibes here" but I still didn't ship ship it, you know? It was just for shits and giggles to read on AO3.

but then. then I watched season 2.

this moment. this one right here. richie dropping everything to help sydney run expo. he's there for her when everyone else has let her down. this night is huge for him--it's finally his moment to prove himself, show that he's changed, to run front of house--but it's just as huge for Sydney, and when Richie sees that Syd needs help he drops everything for her.

Syd has already observed how Richie's changed (no G or R, thinking he looks good the suit, the cologne, his promise to her of "hit me if you need anything") but this just absolutely solidifies it for her that Richie will always have her back.

and from that point on I fell totally into the sydrichie pit. no turning back!

and then I rewatched season 1 and started picking up on so many things I missed--"syd, sorry about the gun, babe, I had to get real," going to the hardware store and in the car richie's so vulnerable with her in a way he isn't with the other characters, when the window gets shot and she's the first person he asks if she's okay, and even leading up to the infamous stabbing scene he was just trying to help her with the vegetables! he really did grudgingly like her--I think they butted heads so much because he was still deeply grieving for Mikey and she represented Change™. she (and carmy) wanted to make a bunch of changes to his dead best friend's beloved sandwich shop and despite how needed those changes were, it made richie really reactive/defensive.

Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" And every single time it's the same fucking "you shouldn't vote because both parties are exactly the same so it won't make a difference who wins" bullshit wrapped up in some fancy language

"OP you need to read 'Voting is not Harm Reduction" OP has read Voting is not Harm Reduction. It opens with the acknowledgement that for the most vulnerable people, even a tiny degree of harm reduction can mean life or death and then continues to advocate for not participating in that harm reduction lest you "participate in your own oppression". Pardon me for not finding "vulnerable people should die for my ideology" very convincing.

I'm just gonna leave this here:
