Hey So I have noticed that in like every Luke imagine ever, when the two lovers kiss, there is always something about his cool lip ring is sending chills down her body. But I feel like that the constant warmth from his body would heat up the metal. What is your opinion on this? (Btw I have never kissed anyone with a lip ring)
this is an important thought actually
well to me (i’ve never kissed anyone with a lip ring) i think it’s just the fact that metal is decently cool, and it is somewhat of an alien feeling which is why writers will focus on it plus lets be honest that lip ring gives anyone life
but it is true luke is just a radiator too so it might not be that cool necessarily it’s just an interesting thing ya feel

Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start a preference page? Like how do you get people to request things and notice your work?

1. correctly tag everything you write
so obviously you’d tag it #preferences but you may also tag it by the fandom you’re writing for
2. getting requests
try putting out a post where you say that you’re open for requests, and tag that for preferences, so that people know you’re available. but honestly, even before that, write a preference of your choosing (that’s how i started out) and once people saw my writing and saw i was open for requests, they started coming in!
3. PATIENCE
it may take a bit of time because there are SO MANY PREFERENCES and it’s easy to get swept up in the whole tide. plus, you need patience when it comes to the requests.
4. be creative!
i always love preferences because i’m pretty sure you can make a preference about anything and everything! always try and come up with something some people may not have seen, or take a unique take on a common one.

Pro-tip for writing imagines: make y/n vague
If you read imagines in this fandom you may have noticed that it’s almost always a skinny neurotypical straight cis white girl (give or take a couple instances on the neurotypical part) which is not even remotely representative of who is in our fam which is why we need to be more inclusive yknow?
When you write imagines it really shouldn’t be written the same way as normal fanfiction because you’re trying to create a story for the reader to imagine themselves in whereas normal fanfiction is for the reader to immerse theirselves into someone else’s story. To be inclusive the best way to go is to make the reader’s character as vague as possible.
A lot of the times it’s obvious that the writer is imagining the story in third person but writing it in second person, which is completely understandable since this is how stories are usually presented but, again, since this is a different situation you need to adjust a bit.
Instead of imagining the story as 2 characters imagine it as yourself and what you see. (like a first person shooter game)
Put more description in:
- the environment/setting around you/the reader
- the person/people you/the reader is interacting with
- emotions and bodily reactions
- i.e instead of using red cheeks as embarrassment maybe warmth of the blush
- textures, sound, tastes, smell, and just the senses in general
there is a case where the point of view is in the person the reader is interacting with which is a little different but the idea is still the same (if that makes sense)
- describe how the environment interacts with the reader instead!
- like how the light bounces of their hair and skin
- describe the emotions the reader is expressing!
- i.e. ‘he watched the amusement flicker in your eyes’
of course there are some things that are a little unavoidable like the mannerisms you may write into the reader’s character (I have certain behaviors that I accidentally give the reader even if its not universal) but the idea is basically to make the reader as vague as you possibly can to make stories more inclusive
