✨ Rina Sawayama for the 2021 BRIT Awards ✨
Singer, actress, model, icon. Cher burst onto the Mod 1960s scene, and has memorized us ever since with her strong voice, poignant performance in Moonstruck (1987), sequin encrusted Bob Mackie gowns, and firecracker attitude.
- Ritz by Charles of the Ritz and Vanilia by L’Artisan Parfumeur When asked on Letterman in 1986 what perfume she was wearing, Cher states “It’s two together. One’s real cheap, it’s called Ritz and it’s like Tabu, good girls don’t wear it. And the other one’s real expensive, called Vanilia.” David Letterman replies, “The end result is quite effective.” They go on to discuss how she has turned down appearing on the show for four years, “Because you thought I was a-”, Letterman starts to say. Cher cuts in and finishes the sentence: "An asshole." The audience boos.
- Uninhibited by Cher (1988) and Cher Eau de Couture by Cher (2019) Cher went on to create two fragrances: Uninhibited in 1988, and more recently, Cher Eau de Couture. Cher says the fragrance “makes you want to hold yourself,” because of the juice’s warm, gourmand blend.

Inside the Perfume Wardrobe of...: Anya Taylor-Joy
Actress and self described "space oddity" Anya Taylor-Joy has become a bonafide It Girl after portraying Jane Austen’s Emma and starring in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit (which garnered 62 million viewers).
- Custom essential oil medleys inspired by her onscreen roles "I tend to make different characters their own little perfume with essential oils," Anya Taylor-Joy told Instyle. "Beth [Harmon, from The Queen’s Gambit] smells like a lot of black pepper, sandalwood, and vodka." The Queen’s Gambit was a runaway hit, and Anya won a Golden Globe for the role.
- Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, Dew, and Midnight Anya’s signature fragrances when she isn’t on the set? Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb line. 15 years after it’s debut, Taylor-Joy was named the first celebrity face of the Flowerbomb line in 2019. As someone who spends a lot of time acting as other people, she feels scent and perfume "helps bring you back to yourself," and has a grounding effect for her.

Inside the Perfume Wardrobe of...: Sophia Loren
Italian bombshell Sophia Loren has continuously lit up the silver screen with her evocative acting and signature, feline beauty since the 1950s. As Sophia herself said, "At the dressing table, every woman has a chance to be an artist, and art, as Aristotle said, 'completes what nature left unfinished'."
- Jean Patou Joy It’s 1967, and wanting to get a true sense of the women behind the legend, novelist John Cheever asks Sophia Loren what she likes during a break in filming on location in Naples. "I like the smell of the sea, and I like Patou’s Joy, and I love the smell of stables," she responds. Released in 1929, Jean Patou’s Joy has reached icon status for it’s high price point (which was a gamble to release during the Wall Street crash that catapulted the Great Depression) and unique juice that was made from 10,000 jasmine flowers and 28 dozen roses. You can see a bottle of Joy on Loren’s dressing table in a photo of her preparing to meet Queen Elizabeth II, and Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn were also fans of this legendary fragrance
- Coty x Sophia Loren In 1980, Sophia teamed up with global beauty giant Coty to create her own fragrance. Loren got to pick the notes, and the eponymous perfume Sophia, also smelling of jasmine and roses (but offered at a cheaper price point), was a smash success for years. The fragrance’s publicity campaign took her to shopping malls and department stores, where she "signed autographs, kissed babies, and chatted with everybody, often in Italian with her many immigrant fans."
