"So uh, you've been quieter than usual." And that was saying something.
"No, I'm not. Why are you still here?" Bruce had almost forbid Dick from inviting Harper to the family gathering, but when the boy had pointed out that he'd allowed Kon to tag along in the past, he'd relented.
The Joker grinned triumphantly at the horizon where the first rays of grey, pre-dawn light were breaking through. The Bat would have to give up soon, but he wouldn’t. His last escape from Arkham had delightfully managed to kill seven people and he had so much in store for Gotham if he could just keep the Bat-menace off his back for a few days.
No such luck tonight though. Bats had him cornered on the roof and while he was debating the merits of a timely plunge over the edge, the vigilante had caught up. “What’s your hurry, Bats? I haven’t even gotten warmed up yet.” He eyed drop, looking for something convenient to land on. “Really, this is just poor sportsmanship!” A manic cackle broke the air and he took a step closer to the edge of the roof.
Fights with the Joker were beginning to feel circular. Even when he won, which wasn't as often enough, he really lost. The man might spend a week, maybe even a month or two behind bars. But soon enough he'd be back on the streets, a trail of bodies behind, like a red road for the Bat to follow.
Today should be no different. Perhaps it wouldn't. Today, however, the Bat had an ace up his sleeve that even the Joker couldn't anticipate.
He landed on the roof with a heavy thump, rising from the folds of his cape like a demon from the shadows, his white lenses trained on the clown. "That's enough, Joker. You can't escape."

"Your concern is always appreciated, but not necessary. I'm still trying to piece together these clues, I'll sleep when people's lives are no longer at risk."
"You seem like a fun guy."
"I'm not."
"This is the thanks I get for savin’ your planet on multiple occasions? What the flark are you anyways?"
"Saving the world doesn't earn a thanks. It's a responsibility. I'm the Batman, Robin's partner."

"Call me Rocket, and don’t worry I’m on your side. That sorta comes with the title of being a Guardian of the Galaxy."
"I've never heard of you, or your group. Don't cause any trouble and we won't have any."
“I guess I can kinda believe it but…it has to be uncomfortable.”
"It was his design. He's free to adjust it as he sees fit. More importantly, who are you and what do you want?"
"You mean the kid in the green undies?"
Bruce frowned. "They aren't underwear. It gives him more maneuverability for his acrobatics."
”Alright, alright, fine.” He stared at Bruce— and his smile only broadened. “Haha, oh my gosh. I look so tiny and scrawny.” He looked down at his hands. “Look, Bruce, my hands are as big as your face— er, the other way around. Your hands are so big!”
Bruce sighed and waved Dick's hand away from his face. "Yes, so I see. Stay in the cave while I work." He walked over to the computer and climbed--literally had to climb--into the chair. Once he had he still had to scoot to the edge just to hope to reach the keyboard and mouse.
