Not only is it Earth's biggest animal, it's (as far as we know) the biggest animal to ever exist!

Bigger than any dinosaur, bigger than any plesiosaur. How lucky we are to get to see it!

you ever take off your noise cancelling headphones and sounds are like, sounds, so you put your noise cancelling headphones back on

I know these tags were a joke but speaking for autistics everywhere, sound has done so much. TOO much. It deserves to be cancelled

@catrillion how dare you keep a beautiful pun like that in the tags

Your 20s are for looking back to your childhood and thinking "huh, that sure was fucked up, they shouldn't have done that to me."

Your 30s are for looking back to your 20s and thinking "huh, that sure was fucked up, I shouldn't have done that to myself."

y'all aren't gonna believe what your 40s are for.

Hey. Minors following me. Internet safety is key!! NEVER include these in your bio/byf:

  • Medical diagnoses - this is nobody's business but yours. You don't owe anyone an explanation for why you are the way that you are
  • Trauma - same reason as above
  • Triggers - people can use these against you! Don't give people tools to hurt you. No one has to know what tags you block. Just block tags to stay safe!
  • Age - age is okay for adults to include but is iffy when you're a teen. Predators want this information, don't give people more than they need. Just state that you're a minor, that's all that anyone needs to know.

In general: stay safe. If you're not comfortable with every stranger out there having access to this information, you shouldn't post it on the internet.

Play devil's advocate and ask yourself about what would happen if someone searched for your information with intent to hurt you. You do NOT owe anyone an explanation!

adding on to this post, i agree w all of OPs points, but i also highly advise against super young teens posting their face on the internet, its so easy to take peoples selfies + name and find stuff out like your school and then figure out the rough area in which you live. same with your phone number. be super careful about what you put out there. once you post it, it really is here forever.

OP already said this so I’m just reiterating to emphasize:

The golden rule of information sharing on the internet is: What would happen if someone saw this who wanted to hurt me?

If the answer is that it would make it easier to harass you, identify you, contact you, or god forbid find you, don’t put it online. You can’t fully control who does and does not see that information--not even with privacy settings.

Another tip, don't post your real name publicly. Unless you're like a John, and even then, don't tell people it's your real name. We never used real names online when I was growing up, or was always handles and nicknames.

If someone knows your real name, they can pull your IP, or figure out your location from what seem like small details (posting something like "grabbed coffee at the rose park Starbucks today" can be paired with your posting habits to figure out your location). And that is exactly how people who want to hurt you can figure out how to do it

So you don’t have to watch the video every time you need one of these hacks immediately:

1. If you feel nauseated, smell rubbing alcohol.

2. If you feel like throwing up, start humming.

3. If you have a runny nose, put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and press your thumb to your forehead for about 20 seconds.

4. If you have a headache, pinch the webbing between your fingers and rub it back and forth for about 1 minute.

5. If you’re lightheaded from standing up too quickly, clench your butt cheeks.

6. If your arm’s dead/has the pins and needles feeling, rock your head back and forth.

7. If you need to pee badly, think of sex to trick your brain and relieve the pressure.

8. If you have a migraine, stick your hands in ice water.

9. If you wanna calm your racing heart, blow on your thumb.

If you're lightheaded while standing up, opening and closing your fists is also something to do. Also try stretching before getting up!

(These are vasovagal syncope tricks, to get the blood pumping where it should be)

Thanks for adding another hack!

I used the humming one when I randomly started dry heaving today, and that shit worked so fast!👌🏼

For context:

The violinist is Alexander Rybak, a Belorussian violinist whose family defected from the USSR to Norway. One of the songs he’s mashing up is his own “Fairytale”, Norway’s entry that won the 2009 Eurovision.

The other song, which is the one playing on the amp, is “Stefania” by the Kalush Orchestra, Ukraine’s entry that won the 2022 Eurovision. The song is about the writer’s own mother, and also about mothers who protect their children from war. Once Russia invaded, the song became a war anthem.

So this isn’t just a gorgeous piece of music. It’s a political piece about unity between people who have been oppressed by the same empire.

met a guy from saudi arabia last night at a bar, he came here with his sister so she could have surgery. he told me “i love your country for healing my sister. there are many wonderful things here, but there’s one thing you do not have. mercy” and then he asked if that was a boston thing or an overall american quality

that's some rich shit coming from a nation that is still practicing slavery (maids, workers are basically trafficked trapped and abused), women are left to die in fires because they may not be modest and executes gay people to this day. yeah his sister needed healing because she had no rights in that country and he needs to develop a sense of shame

sorry for the confusion - this wasn't actually the nation of Saudi Arabia speaking, just a guy (human person) i met

im not confused, if he lived in the nation of saudi arabia he would have experienced all that, or maybe he didn't notice. why do you think his sister needed healing and not him?

i'll say it again, its rich shit for a man that is from a country known for its misogynistic hateful ways to come along and judge america for lacking mercy. america isn't perfect, but a man from saudi should be able to see how his own country hasn't got any more mercy either and refrain from making such a dumbass judgment. maybe he didn't notice all the slavery and executions and torture of women and girls because hes a man and still gets his human rights in saudi

oh so then here's where the confusion comes from: when i look at a foreigner in america i see a person with their own individual sense of morality, and when you look at one you see a representative & implicit supporter of all their country's most heinous crimes. thats cool i hope that doesnt restrict your ability to empathize with other human beings
