Reblog if it's okay for people to come into your askbox and ask about your OCs

Even if I’ve never spoken to them, even if I don’t know them from a hole in the wall, even if they’re on anon, people asking questions about my OCs make my day.

No need to apologize for slow updates: people get busy, and it's always worth the wait for the new ones. (and always worth rereading the old ones, too.)

Minfilia and the Scions wanted to know more about these masked men; Minfilia had heard of the fabled Ascians, agents of chaos and destruction. As if the Primals and the Garlean Empire weren't enough trouble.

The Shields tracked rumours of masked men all over until they finally got a good lead in Little Ala Mhigo—a settlement just north of Dawrik's home tribe, where displaced refugees from the Empire's first conquests eked out an existence in the harsh desert. Supposedly the youths here were unhappy with their lot, and had been seen consorting with a masked man.

When they met with the head youth to find out more, Dawrik inwardly grinned—the young man was awfully cute. He took point on the negotiations.

“It's not everyone who can gain the trust of the old bear,” the boy said, referring to the Ala Mhigan chief.

“Not the first old bear to like me,” Dawrik said, winking. “So what is it you boys really want?” he said, slyly. “Maybe I can provide it for you...”

But then it turned out the whole thing was a trap. Because of course it was a trap.

Turns out the Ascians “really wanted” the Shields dead.

As they reached the end of the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (was it called that because of all the bugs? It was probably called that because of all the bugs) Dawrik felt a pall of evil fall over him. Black and purple smoke swirled around the chamber, and suddenly a masked, robed man stood before them.

He was just like the masked man Dawrik had seen back when the Sultana's crown had been stolen!

Vyra bared her axe as the masked man smirked at them.

“Slayers of Ifrit, we meet at last. I am Lahabrea of the Ascians, servant of the one true god.”

Dawrik felt the power of the echo stir in him, the voice of Hydaelyn warning him against this darkness. Lahabrea intoned that the echo was all that stood between him and darkness engulfing the world. And then he tried to kill them. Because of course he did.

At least they found the old sylph, caught in a web. It seemed like the sylphs would hold off on summoning Ramuh for the moment, but indications suggested the Garleans were trying to provoke them. Dawrik guessed the Garleans had something to gain the chaos a primal would leave in its wake.

Garleans, Primals, Ascians. It seemed everyone wanted Eorzea.
