Philippine Eagles are critically endangered, and every chick is precious. When necessary, the Philippine Eagle Foundation uses a puppet to hand-feed captive bred chicks. They needed a new puppet and I’m honored that they asked me to make it! Video demo: https://youtu.be/YwB0mdNMvDU Hand-feeding with puppets is not ideal, but aims to imprint the baby chick onto its own species, instead of humans. I am so thankful to organizations like the PEF that work hard to save wildlife via thoughtful cooperation and respect, with habitat restoration and stewardship. I crafted this puppet for ease of use and cleaning as it will be used to feed an eagle chick raw meat. To this end it’s not finished the same way my masks are. Built from scratch using a wire armature, foam, worbla, faux fur, and a food safe waterproof finish on the beak so that it can be washed.

Scylliss’ model is now about 75% complete. Getting there.

Times are changing

Still working on this while my arm hurts too much to do anything related to art. Almost 50% through laying out the the basics ;o; SO MUCH LEFT TO DO

Replicating someone else’s work is feels way harder than coming up with your own, and then there’s the whole mixing thing I haven’t quite gotten to yet…

(( *points up* This is what I have been doing instead of doing the arts for this blog. Sorry, arm hurtiness means no tablet usage but at least this keeps me busy. Good news, I suppose, is that I at least have something planned -- buuuut Wildstar Head Start begins in less than 24 hours sooooo, we'll see how that goes.

You can blame veperine for making me want to jump on the music bandwagon too 8D except... I'm not yet doing anything original and playing with redoing 16 bit JRPG era tracks for yet another project, ahaha. ) )
