because we know now scott is telling the story did he overestimate stiles forgiving him
or was stiles own fear of being left behind enough to keep him there, but time, other people etc would give Stiles new people to limpet on to, don’t mistake that, Stiles is a limpet, his trauma from his mother means he clings to people he cares about, but now he cares about more people
and by s6 he cares more about lydia than scott, it needs unpacking, a lot of packing
he went weeks without calling Scott, but he also didn’t call Lydia, but he DID pick up Derek, we don’t know how long they were together, allegedly long enough for Stiles to heal a shot toe
have you ever read a book that has a twist in the end and you go back and reread it and realise the twist was there all along and everything is changed now you know that - teen wolf just did that
a lot of things will change now we have as much info as we’re going to get, and my memory is good but it’s not good enough i can do it without having a list of things to look for - such a long list sighs—-
and this is one of those things to look for,
look at how close they were in 3a then compare it to the second half of the season, the fight outside the vets was coming for a long time, Scott never really trusted him again after the possession - although i doubt he would be able to vocalise that - and he used him for his smarts [calling him about liam after scott kidnapped the kid], and used him to get the outcome he wanted, but he never considered him [it’s hard to say if he did in 1-3a because scott’s thoughts were allison allison allison and someone wearing stiles’ face killed allison
we know it wasn’t stiles - but it was wearing his face and that is a genuine thing that would be very hard to get over
apparently by s5 scott’s thoughts were still allison allison allison [poor kira]
but scott has this personality trait where he’s all or nothing, he gives the person he’s with 100% laser focus, which can be heady to the person getting paid that much attention, you can see how it appeals to Stiles [who is used to his dad being at work and being alone] Allison [a new kid who knows no one whose family are getting weird] Kira [who feels overlooked and diminished by her strong mother] but then he takes that focus away and they’ll do anything to get it back
and at the end scott has learned to use that focus to pick up stray wolves and recruit them
it’s an abusive behaviour but it’s not that he sat down one day and said I will use this technique, it’s I do this and it gets me my own way, and the more he uses it the more it works, so he does it more, he practises it, perfects it, and he then uses it as a promise, a lure, a way to make them almost addicted to him, and the people who don’t get it [Liam, Lydia] are the ones who don’t need the same attention
he does do it to stiles, in the scene outside the vet, he uses the same language with Allison in s2 at the rave and flips it so he is the victim [this is called DARVO, Denial of the initial insult/hurt they caused, Attack the accuser, Reversal of Victim and Offender - how could you do this to me, why couldn’t you trust me, you should have brought this to me etc
Scott is very good at that
these are all abusive behaviours but it’s more he uses them than he is abusive, although @auntpol will argue me to the ground that it’s deliberate, i think he does it because it works, she thinks he knows what he’s doing and enjoys it
So Stiles might get out, but he’d have to sacrifice someone else to Scott’s all or nothing spiral, spending time in the nothing and realising there are other people [Derek] who can fill the gap
because that’s what Derek has done since 101, when Scott was busy, Derek turned to Stiles, so Stiles didn’t always feel the lack because he was distracted
