people who CLAIM to be cat lovers but dont like hairless cats are NOT VALID if you cant appreciate cats in their most pure form, uncovered and exposed for what they truly are, yuou’re a fake cat lover

Avatar
cer44

On the opposite. People who fuss about naked cats, short-legged cats, curled-eirs cats are those who are “not valid” cat lovers. Every of those “cute” traits are mutations that are not good for cat’s health. White cats with blue eyes? - deafness. Curled or folded eirs? - problems with cartilage. Short tails? - problems with spine. Short legs? - problems with spine. No fur? - thermoregulation problems, sunburns, dry skin, problems with spatial awareness (cats NEED whiskers for moving at night and to “see” under their nose, for example, their food). Short noses? - dry eyes, problems with breathing, problems with teeth. What next is in the “pure form” line? Vegetarian cat? Oh wait...

The “valid” cat lovers are those who don’t need The cat to be changed into a freak, for whom cat’s health is much more important then human’s distorted sense of beauty.

And yes, there are mammal species without fur (naked vole, elephant, hippo, human), but they had hundred thousands of years of evolution to adapt to it. Voles live under the ground where there is no sun, elephants use mud, hippos excrete protective oily sweat. Yes, there are many short-legged animas (stouts, martins, bush dog), again, their muscles and vertebrae have many adaptations for the unusual build, where short-legged cat is literally a dwarf, who still thinks it is born to jump from high places.

Please educate yourself on the topic of health problems that decorative breeds of cats and dogs have. Domesticated or not, they still have the programme “never show your weakness and bad health” wired into their brains, so even suffering daily they will try to live like normal. Remember, breeders choose to breed these disabilities intentionally, pushing them to extremes. Supporting such breeds you support a form of animal cruelty.

I think out of everyone on tw, TH had the best werewolf growl. Peter had that cute lip twitch, but Derek always looked amazing when he shifted and roared. Even coming back the action was on point.

I think Derek was the best shifted wolf, but Peter was the best “he’s in human form, but you can see the wolf right there under the surface” wolf,  if that makes sense!

Jan Bohen is simply the best actor in TW, hands down. I haven’t seen him in other works, but he managed to make Peter captivating even provided the stupidest of text. It’s when an actor/actress can give weight to a scene just standing or looking, you know he/she is the real deal.

Derek’s roar is magnificent though.

Good to see ya’ Coach. You too, Jackson.

I didn’t like Jackson/Ethan personally, because it was true contrivance and Jackson didn’t play any real role in the final battle, BUT this pairing is a testimony that there was never any queerbaiting in the show (and it was nice to see old faces, pity, no Isaac). Arguably, Lydia’s “you finally figured it out” was meant for Stiles. The only thing that stops me from writing “100%” is that Jackson did dance with both Isaac and Erica, there were hints to his bisexuality put in place. Alas, one pair of actors recently came out and another pair consists of a Superman and a rising Hollywood star.

Altough 6b was a mess in my opinion, the weakest season of all, and the finale could have been better, I’m realy thankful and rather impressed that the inner universe and main trajectories stayed intact. For example, Peter as a character suffered in s4 due to changed (in my opinion) Scott’s dark arc, but was restored to full glory and his story was rounded up nicely. Derek finally got “to have nice things” (Camaro). Lydia needed no man. Etc. And Sterek, robbed of its screen time due to actors’ conflicting schedules and other outside factors, wasn’t shut down, on the contrary. The finale had 5 official couples, 4 of them kissed, Stydia didn’t even hug.

The Coach was awesome, the scene in the gifs is a blessing.

I am 100% certain Sterek didn’t happen because of outside forces more powerful than Jeff et al but couldn’t figure out why MTV wouldn’t want it, it would be excellent publicity for the channel and the show

so i did some digging, a lot of digging

and ended up going dear god this is a conspiracy theory about something only vaguely related

Sometime between the wrapping of s2 and the conclusion of 3a O'Brien was signed to WME

for those not in the know WME is THE agency in Hollywood to be with, they represent almost all of the big stars - he’s at the same agency as Jake Gyllenhall, Denzel Washington, to name a few [it’s also the first one to do cross-branded promotion and represents the MCU, you want him to be in the MCU his agency are the people responsible]

So I started checking the list of their stars against queer characters and got very little- almost full on zip, the only one who had was Gyllenhall and that saw him signed to WME. As far as I can tell they signed O’Brienoff the back of the First Time airing at Sundance and immediately got him the gig in the Internship to pad his resume for Maze Runner

you wanna know how an unknown got that role - they are how

and if anyone shut down Sterek it was them

not the actors [they would have got told to suck it up, the same as het actors who are against a love interest they can’t stand], not the producers - everything in canon suggests they wanted to, not MTV they clearly didn’t care - WME

Hoechlin is not with that company

Avatar
cer44

I agree.

If MTV was against Sterek, there would have been no Jackson/Ethan, no TWO gay pairings in the finale. Only thing they demanded was hormonal teenagers making out here and there.

favorite sterek scenes               -> 1.12 stiles + being protective over derek

WHY HASN’T ANYONE TALKED ABOUT THIS?! SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE A FIC ABOUT THIS!!!! @thepsychicclam @sterekficlets @pale-silver-comb @ficsforsterek @sterekwriters @colethewolf @bleep0bleep

Avatar

But wait wait I am SO bitter that this isn’t one of The Main Scenes Of Sterek Culture, like everyone gushes about the pool scene, the elevator scene, the Miguel scenes and that’s fine, obviously, there’s nothing wrong with that, but no one ever talks about THIS. SCENE. and this is just… such an important one? Because this says so much about Stiles as a person and how he is in the Sterek relationship

You have this 16-year-old kid, just barely having gotten inducted into the world of the supernatural, he’s staring at two things here:

1. A hunter, a dangerous person who could and WOULD hurt Stiles if he was so inclined, who has a history of hurting innocent people for virtually no reason

But also

2. Another human being, Chris has no reason to kill Stiles because Stiles is human, and if Stiles were to back down and submit to what Chris was asking- or even just, you know, not mouth off- there’s a pretty fair chance Chris would just leave him alone, or atleast not kill him

And Stiles has not ONLY made his loyalties clear- he sides with the wolves, he’s always sided with the wolves, and he generally has an even harder time working with hunters than some of the other non-born-wolf people on this show do- but he’s also gone above and beyond

This isn’t just Stiles being his usual smart-mouthed self, he’s taking Derek’s side, no matter what his relationship with Derek is right now, no matter what this other HUMAN is telling him, he’s taking Derek’s side, instead of using one of the many things that hunters have done to SCOTT as an example, he takes the ultimate crime they committed against DEREK as an example and he takes it to heart, he’s not just getting in a jab at Chris here, he’s making it very clear that his loyalties lie not only with Scott, but with Derek and wolves in general

This is Stiles saying “Scott is not a special case, this is not me loving my best freind and trying to look past his species, this is me being a full-on supporter of werewolves and telling you that none of your intimidation tactics are going to change my mind” and that’s amazing

This is one of my favorite things and one of the scenes that really pushes, in my opinion, the Stiles Is Part Of The Hale Pack semi-canon, because Stiles stood with Derek and stood with WOLVES in a way that even Scott wavers on at times (“Maybe they deserved it” *shudder*)

This is the perfect example of why I will ALWAYS headcanon Stiles as being an intensely active wolf-protector, as someone who will always be more inclined to sympathize with wolves than hunters, as someone who would have lived and breathed and died for the Hale pack totally regardless of his individual relationships with any of them

And this is one of the best things about Sterek that kind of only gets talked about in fic rather than meta: That Stiles sees Derek as a person when no one else wants to

Stiles doesn’t get dragged into the werewolf stuff by force like Scott does, he jumps in willingly and makes peace VERY early on with accepting and SUPPORTING werewolves as people instead of trying to blame them, other them, or worst of all, bully, harm, or hunt them (wow the allegories are strong with this one)

I just… I just want more of this scene and what means about Stiles as a person- and what it means for his relationship with Derek, the Hale pack, and werewolves in general- in the fandom ok?

Mr Douglas is an Alpha werewolf isn't he? How can the other werewolves not smell him? I thought werewolves smelled different or is that purely fandom?

This might be a better question to put to the meta crowd.

The supernatural abilities of the werewolves–scent, or pack bonds, or just ht knowledge they were in the company of another supernatural–tended to fade in and out as the plot required.

Bad writing.

But it’s also possible that Mr. Douglas had some other form of mojo going on that prevented the pack from figuring him out earlier.

He’s a leonmensch

we know that peter controlled his scent in s1 so he didn’t smell like an alpha

but we also know that scott missed a school full of werewolves, werecoyotes and at least one alpha [ms finch] despite being in class with her for a year and meeting her privately some times

so there might be a simple answer for this

scott’s a moron

bear with me, Derek singled out the weres in minutes, but Scott trying to sniff the lacrosse team missed Isaac

then by the time he bites Liam he’s taken to suppressing his wolf like it’s a trauma, so he has none of the extra senses - we’ve seen that a lot with him, he has to  flash eyes to use them because he doesn’t really have control, he is not at one with his wolf

and he taught liam the basics allegedly

so we have scott using the supernatural equivalent of vicks under his nose and liam who doesn’t recognise the smells he’s surrounded with because he’s never learned how

i watched a documentary on a guy with chronic anosmia - he had no sense of smell and it was cured through acupuncture and one of the tests was to get him to say what the smells were and he couldn’t, not because he couldn’t smell them but because he didn’t know what they were, like lemon or pine etc, but he came back a week later and passed the same test with flying colours after going around smelling ALL the things.

and tellingly malia was in neither class because she might go - they smell funny, ie there is something worth sniffing here

Avatar

Scott relies on Malia’s nose. Wolves can hide their smell.

The post made me come back to Mrs. Finch again. She was completely unnesessary, but she is still a piece of the worldbuilding. She hid in plain sight. We know that many wolves do (Satomi’s pack). She was strong enough to cover her reaction to wolfsbane, but she supressed her wolf so much that she didn’t start healing right away, it’s like her body forgot. Scott is similar. He flashes eyes, he roars, he bears pain and heals, but he has to be reminded to use the infra-vision, he doesn’t feel packbonds, he is not very good with smells.

The wolf in the intro was always Derek. The last episode stressed it out with the transition from Derek attacking the hunters with guns to the wolf and later to Scott. “We need the real alpha, who can do alpha things” = Derek in the finale (werewolf snarl, werewolf jump, hand combat, claws, wolsbane and how to cure it knowledge).

Oh no, I disagree. Theo won’t use the L word, he will confess in hundreds indirect ways and all of it would fly right pass the clueless Liam. Untill one day it won’t.

Liam-Theo and Scott-Stiles comparison is one of the best things in TW. Stiles was ready to do anything for Scott, but eventually was driven away. Liam hated Theo from the beginning, but managed to earn his undying loyalty. With anger issues, Liam is not Scott’s mini me (it’s the boy from the last ep), but Derek’s mini me.

Scott's fear being the Nogi is such wasted potential to add some depth to his character. It could have been that his fear is the Nogi turning Stiles, his best friend, bro, literally the dude who dropped everything to help him when he got bitten, into someone so unrecognizable that Scott is forced to kill him. Really, so the fear could be a subtle set up for Scott being afraid of killing, of losing Stiles and simultaneously being the one responsible for his death but JD is so lazy omg.

I’m always going to be of the opinion that Scott’s greatest fear should have been feral alpha Peter, because not only was he the monster who turned Scott, he’s also what Scott could be terrified of turning into if he kills…

Having said that, you’ve articulated a fantastic way that the Nogitsune as Scott’s fear could have worked. And it could have been brilliant!

It wasn’t, of course, because Jeff–but it could have been!

Avatar
Avatar

there’s several answers for this

1. they had no money to bring back the berserkers because the make up was expensive - but they did have brunski as the nogi

2. both actors [the nogitsune] knocked it out of the park in s3 so they brought him back because …. i mean they were awesome

3. Scott’s greatest fear is Stiles being more powerful than him

Avatar
cer44

“The greatest fear“ is a lore. Anuk-Ite uses any means to make somebody open their eyes. It yelled at Derek, when sweet words with Jeniffer’s voice didn’t work, it changed multiple times it’s appearance facing Scott (there were all the bad guys, including a Berserker minus the Beast) and tried to influence him by reminding of Allison. We never saw what Peter is afraid of, because he simply had the bad luck of meeting Anuk-Ite face to face with already opened eyes. Anuk-Ite’s mere presence induces dread and fear, true, but it doesn’t mean that only “the greatest“ threats work.

I still have so many questions.

Season 6b was a mess, but I’m grateful that the final was more or less tied up. Definetely the result of authors and producers tag of war. A lot of plot-lines were obviously dropped or, rather, left hanging. Stiles looked at the Anuk-ite’s eyes, it was impossible to miss the fact the same way it was impossible to ignore that locked up door in the hospital. The Nogitsune was brought back. And yet no word about his Somethingness. And the Nemeton… that is the true elephant in the room in the form of a branch. And what’s with the human skeleton in a veterinarian clinic?

Avatar
purplepints

As importantly, that doesn’t even seem to be the Clinic from previous episodes. It is shown to be red brick on the upper walls with a flat wainscoting-ish below.

So is this a different Clinic, a remodeled but same Clinic or a different location entirely?

It looks like the same clinic, just different room. The windows are the same. There is no point in spending money on an unimportant two-second shot in the finale.

X-rays matter though. The stuff re-use the same ones, but change accordingly to the topic around the table. When Sterek argued, there was one with a dog heart

Ok, stopping by to say your metas are amazing! Question (related to your meta about Stiles toning down his badassery to appease Scott). Do you think that at some point the tension between Scott and Stiles will reach breaking point and Stiles will just "break free"? I felt like we came very close to that after Donovan, but TW pulled it back because if Scott has to "compete" with Stiles he will lose in every single parameter? I also think Stiles forgave Scott so easily because Derek wasn't there.

Avatar

it’s weird

because we know now scott is telling the story did he overestimate stiles forgiving him

or was stiles own fear of being left behind enough to keep him there, but time, other people etc would give Stiles new people to limpet on to, don’t mistake that, Stiles is a limpet, his trauma from his mother means he clings to people he cares about, but now he cares about more people

and by s6 he cares more about lydia than scott, it needs unpacking, a lot of packing

he went weeks without calling Scott, but he also didn’t call Lydia, but he DID pick up Derek, we don’t know how long they were together, allegedly long enough for Stiles to heal a shot toe

but now we know

have you ever read a book that has a twist in the end and you go back and reread it and realise the twist was there all along and everything is changed now you know that - teen wolf just did that

a lot of things will change now we have as much info as we’re going to get, and my memory is good but it’s not good enough i can do it without having a list of things to look for - such a long list sighs—-

and this is one of those things to look for,

look at how close they were in 3a then compare it to the second half of the season, the fight outside the vets was coming for a long time, Scott never really trusted him again after the possession - although i doubt he would be able to vocalise that - and he used him for his smarts [calling him about liam after scott kidnapped the kid], and used him to get the outcome he wanted, but he never considered him [it’s hard to say if he did in 1-3a because scott’s thoughts were allison allison allison and someone wearing stiles’ face killed allison

we know it wasn’t stiles - but it was wearing his face and that is a genuine thing that would be very hard to get over

apparently by s5 scott’s thoughts were still allison allison allison [poor kira]

but scott has this personality trait where he’s all or nothing, he gives the person he’s with 100% laser focus, which can be heady to the person getting paid that much attention, you can see how it appeals to Stiles [who is used to his dad being at work and being alone] Allison [a new kid who knows no one whose family are getting weird] Kira [who feels overlooked and diminished by her strong mother] but then he takes that focus away and they’ll do anything to get it back

and at the end scott has learned to use that focus to pick up stray wolves and recruit them

it’s an abusive behaviour but it’s not that he sat down one day and said I will use this technique, it’s I do this and it gets me my own way, and the more he uses it the more it works, so he does it more, he practises it, perfects it, and he then uses it as a promise, a lure, a way to make them almost addicted to him, and the people who don’t get it [Liam, Lydia] are the ones who don’t need the same attention

scary isn’t it

he does do it to stiles, in the scene outside the vet, he uses the same language with Allison in s2 at the rave and flips it so he is the victim [this is called DARVO, Denial of the initial insult/hurt they caused, Attack the accuser, Reversal of Victim and Offender - how could you do this to me, why couldn’t you trust me, you should have brought this to me etc

Scott is very good at that

these are all abusive behaviours but it’s more he uses them than he is abusive, although @auntpol will argue me to the ground that it’s deliberate, i think he does it because it works, she thinks he knows what he’s doing and enjoys it

So Stiles might get out, but he’d have to sacrifice someone else to Scott’s all or nothing spiral, spending time in the nothing and realising there are other people [Derek] who can fill the gap

because that’s what Derek has done since 101, when Scott was busy, Derek turned to Stiles, so Stiles didn’t always feel the lack because he was distracted

Twice Stiles chose Scott over dying Derek and I really wanted a scene, where he does an opposite choice. It kind of happend behind the scenes. Argent went to find Derek to ask him to come to help, it’s logical he called Stiles too. Even if Argent doesn’t know about his abilities, he is part of the main group and the son of the Sheriff, who is in danger. Stiles did come back, but only after picking up Derek. Mexico 2.0. They probably fled the scene though as clearing Derek from being a suspect requires a lot of work and evidence.

Ah, it’s so funny. Derek, Peter and Malia, the Hales, beat all the men with guns and make Monroe run away and Scott is tending to dying Deucalion. “Gerard can’t beat you (Scott), he knows it”.

Stiles, why are you looking at Derek, when Lydia is right beside you and Scott tells that the war has started.

Aha, yes, I checked the scene to see how Scott and Stiles interacted during the meeting. They didn’t hug. And in the finale Stilesafter a quick pat kept his hands in his pockets instead of a bro hand-over the shoulder thing.

“Genotype” TW 6x18 and “Required Reading” TW 5x06

It’s the sort of thing that makes you ask yourself “Did they plan this?  Or did the first thing inspire the second?”

Because one of the things that bothered me when I first watched “Required Reading” is that, when Liam brings Scott his inhaler, Mrs. Finch is standing in a position which meant that she had to see Liam’s eyes when he gets Scott to use it.   Originally, I just put it down as a blocking problem or a sign of the denial of Beacon Hills residents.

But now, she had to know that Liam was a beta and that Scott was probably his alpha.

Was that always planned?  Or did they notice it as well and it inspired that story?

Avatar

It was planned. There was too much attention on Mrs. Finch in comparison to other teachers. She should have played a bigger role initially, probably.

Mountain Ash...

So… I get that Stiles throwing the mountain ash at the Anuk-Ite was supposed to stop it like mountain ash stops werewolves, but why the hell did the ash harden around the Anuk-Ite and turn it into stone?

And why would that free the other people who had been turned to stone, especially if those people were still alive underneath? (ie even if the Anuk-Ite was turned to stone, it wasn’t dead because no one else was dead when turned to stone either)

As far as we know, mountain ash can form barriers for supernatural creatures and if ingested, can be poisonous (although not outright kill).  As far as I’m aware, we’ve never seen mountain ash do anything else and considering that the Anuk-Ite didn’t even ingest the stuff, it makes no sense that it did what it supposedly did.

At this point, the only explanation that makes any sense is that the mountain ash didn’t do it on its own.  The most likely source of other power in that case would be Stiles since only he and Scott were present and Stiles was the one who threw the ash.  See, this is why having a magic user who doesn’t know they’re a magic user is helpful for plot holes.

I would prefer the plot holes to not exist in the first place, though.

On that thread, why did the mountain ash have to come from the armory?   I know they had to go there to rescue Jackson and Ethan anyway, but still.

Like, couldn’t they have just asked Deaton for mountain ash?  You know, if he hadn’t disappeared without explanation once again this season.  Or didn’t Scott and Melissa have a mountain ash alarm system that necessitated that they have some mountain ash to arm it anyway?  Or shouldn’t all the humans probably just be carrying it on their person at all times now?

Avatar
cer44

The mountain ash trapped Anuk-Ite, it supposedly turned to stone, expiriencing it’s own greatest fear (being trapped again forever). Not very convincing, true, a poor job fro the writers. Once the creature was defeated, it’s magic dissapeared too as common in fairyrales.

Stiles and Lydia went to the armory to save Jackson, the ash was there, why not safe some time.

Mieczyslaw “Stiles” Stilinski looked the Anuk-Ite dead in the eyes and didn’t show a single sign of turning to stone before slamming that jar of mountain ash on the ground to kill it dead

but i cracked it down to the fact that stiles fear is BLINDNESS so if the anukite affected him it was most likely in the way of making him blind allowing him to “look” at it because he can’t see it technically

I thought so too, but even with his fear being blindness, the Anuk-Ite was focused on Scott and clearly didn’t realise Stiles was coming so how can we be sure he was blinded, especially considering the fact that Stiles pauses when he enters the room which means he must have seen the Anuk-Ite.

It’s possible he was blinded after that but he still looked right at it and managed to use the mountain ash perfectly even when he only threw it just in front of himself. Other than Malia and Ethan (who we saw turned to stone) we saw everyone else confront the Anuk-Ite and saw or heard a hint or their fear, so why not Stiles? The moment being intense and dramatic doesn’t explain why they’d slip over that if it mattered for the other characters.

Alas, we’re never going to know whether he was blind or not now that the show is over but I wholeheartedly believe that he looked right at the Anuk-Ite and should’ve been turned to stone and something about him must have saved his life

Avatar
cer44

Anuk-Ite doesn’t realize someone’s fears like a djinn, he uses it to make the target look in it’s eyes, the creature is also in control of his ability to induce fear (the meeting with Gerard proved it). It’s not physical. but mental confrontation. If one tactic/face doesn’t work, he changes to another, like he did with Scott. Stiles wasn’t blind 100%. The remark served as distracting tactic and false explanation for that part of the audience, which doesn’t pay enough attention and is not aware that Stiles is Something.
