Finished, sold, and mailed the steampunk medical bracer a customer wanted. This is a rebuild of the one I made last year, and the last picture is a comparison between the two. Test fit to make sure everything works and is accessible. The winged nut on the med tape spindle tightens down to lock it in place and can be loosened up when needing to pull the tape, as well as comes off so you can change it with ease. The 2 vials, scissors and tweezers all fit snugly in their slots and aren't hard to remove or put back in. Same with the front flap snaps and small pouch, both are easy to undo and snap back into place and dont pop open when moving about. And the elastic pen holder can hold a fountain pen easily as well as other pens/markers. This guys video is very insightful in retrospect to leather goods and products. Before I got into leatherwork myself I'd see in the stores constantly belts and wallets that were marked as "genuine leather" but they didnt last and tore up easily. So for those interested in purchasing leather products please do some research into them before spending that hard earned money. On Etsy I tend to look at the market on leather goods and prices and there is noticable difference. For example if you look up briefcases you get swarmed with a bunch of them for $80 to $100 and all those are stated to be made with genuine leather. But if you dig deeper you see some for $300 or higher and those talk about the type of grain and leather used which shows those are full on leather products. Not the cheap filler laced with leather. The large leather medicine vial box has been sold and on its way to its new home! Finally finished this project. Was long overdue but finally managed the time in to get it done! Have to say the longest part of any of my bigger pouch projects like this is the hand stitching. A little about this project. I like to make things for fantasy outfits and costumes. So instead of the usual drawstring pouch I wanted to make like a belt type briefcase/satchel. Mainly for those who like to go above and beyond in their aesthetics and to still have something functional. A pouch can only just hold what's inside of it. While this design can add to it even more. The case itself has two loops for attaching it to a belt. It is 2 inches deep, 10.5 inches wide, and 7 inches tall. So it can hold a tablet, books, wallets, handpurse, etc. There is a front pocket flap that can hold a checkbook, or smartphone, or just notes/documents. As well as a small key clamp that can hold keys or whatever else you have on a keyring. Additionally on one side is a big D ring which can hold a drawstring pouch or whatever else one might want to attach there. The other side has 2 small O rings which can hold potion bottles, small pouches, or other items that can be hooked or attached. The bottom of it there is a small gap that I left when doing the bottom straps around the body so it can be used to hold a scroll of paper. I'll have this up on the shop soon, just need to get some better pics. Trial and error. Was working on tje new pouch design and I was wanting to make some tooling designs on the front. So I carved the design then beveled the lines, however as you can see the leather was too thin and it tore through. Made a necklace for a friends amethyst arrowhead they had.
