Desktop foundry in action!
Over the past six months I have been working on learning on how to use all of the technology and collective knowledge my job with The Manufactory has available to me. It has been very rewarding working with others to help them complete their own projects, as well as come up with educational presentations for different events.
In March, I had the amazing opportunity to be a work study student at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, in David Eichelberger's Form Focus hand building class. These works were created using bisque molds and pinching. The pieces are finished with terra sigilata.
I was interested in extracting characteristics in existing objects, so that they resembled the original, but were not exact replicas. I still am interested in creating more permanant versions of disposable items, as well as exploring object attachment regarding banal, ephemeral possessions.
My search for ubiquitous objects continues.
