Family members like to think they know best for you when only YOU know whats best for you. If he makes you happy, then they will just have to get over it. If you havent already I think you should sit down and have a talk with them. Maybe first with a member that is easiest to talk to. If they really want to see you happy, they will make it easier for him to feel comfortable. If this is someone you see a future with, they’ll have to understand that he isnt going anywhere.

I’m white and my boyfriend is black so I dont know if my reply matters to you but we have been together for almost 2 years. I kinda knew him through out high school. He dated this girl a knew, actually a few girls i knew so i was iffy about talking to him. Especially when I assumed he had a girlfriend when we started talking. He isnt someone I saw my self with. I actually told myself not to fall for him. I tried to quit talking to him several times. We took a break around this time last year because he thought he was going into the military and didn’t want to leave me here alone even tho i basically made a fool of myself to convince him otherwise. On valentines day he showed up to my house with gifts. I was already trying to accept the fact that we were over with. But hope came back. It took until May to fix things and we are together now. We still have our problems but you just dont give up. So i guess you just look for the unexpected.
