Stitching Through Time

@zoepiel-blog / zoepiel-blog.tumblr.com

I’m Zoe P. I'm a third year undergrad at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, getting my BFA in Costume Technology. I LOVE manipulating the human form into sculpture. What else?: - I love to ride road bikes! - I'm allergic to the world… not really, but a lot of things. Like I have Celiac, so I cant have flour… and Bunnies (that’s not the Celiac)… - I like pretty pictures - I'm half Japanese and part Irish & German

update after a long pause

Wow, I just realized I took like a week long break from Tumblr. Guess that means I've been busy right?

Wow where to start.

The show is looking great, incase you don’t know, I'm first hand at the Kingsmen Shakes Fest in Thousand Oaks CA, were working on Taming of the Shrew right now and move to Merchant of Venice in a few days.  Our designer is a bit… quirky (to put it nicely) were all a bit tired of him, but he does keep us entertained with his unfiltered banter:

To Nicole“ you look like an irish painting my sisters cousin used to have, it was 5 different shades of wood”

In response to costume parties: “Its really quite easy, that’s why I keep a pair of leather pants in my closet, I wear them with a period shirt and say I'm a pirate” (the man is like 60+ with gross long hair and doesn’t shower)

Talking about ‘Hot Dates’: “no no no, hot date and light focus don’t belong in the same paragraph.  Now hot date and pajamas, hot date and car oh you don’t have one… um hot date and, now in the old days it was the bridge”

Boy advice: “you should get someone to program your phone to send back Korean characters just to throw them off”

And those are only a few of the selections, granted they were better in person, but it gets the point across.

I'm having a blast here, its like everyone already knows each other, so after two weeks were all getting along royally. Last week I went line dancing for the first time, I'm absolutely hooked, I went in not knowing anything, and determined to learn.  Kate and Annie and I practiced once over the next week and we mastered two dances.

That was Wednesday, um, Friday I had a blast with everyone, we stayed up till like 1 playing never have a I ever.

Sunday was karaoke night at a local bar, watched everyone get drunk and make a fool of themselves, which was awesome. I also tried to play pool, I used to play when we had a table at my parents, turns out I'm a bit rust.

Monday, woke up at noon!  Made blueberry pancakes and went to the beach with the crew.  Ill hand it to CA, they have beautiful beaches.  I saw my first Dolphin, so pretty!  The water was freezing but I'm happy to say I actually went in and got soaked.

And yesterday we went line dancing again.  I have new shoes, which were great except for the 2 blisters and 2 other cuts I got, ill be working on them to treat me better.  Kate and I have now mastered ‘the knick’ ‘crazy legs’ & ‘Honky Tonk’

And that brings us to today, I had a wonderful Gluten free dinner and watched the stars for hours.
