she likes to toy with the police. for the most part she leaves a very specific phrase in her perfect calligraphy on hundreds of sheets of stationery: along came a spider. media has a field day with it, but can’t really form it into anything that sounds scary or cool enough to boost ratings until the handwriting analysts come in and point out something distinctive in her penmanship: the dragon’s tail, “the tail end of certain letter strokes created by raising the pen on one edge as the stroke is being completed.” (yeah i looked up calligraphy terms for this i’m Into It okay)

that’ll do nicely. she’s known as the dragon’s tail for the rest of the media circus & throughout​ the tristate area.

leliana’s probably a special agent for the fbi assigned to the case (although lbr she does black ops) & probably the only one who will entertain the idea that it’s not some mid-30s white guy behind the attacks. she insists to the guys in forensics that she sees something feminine in the slicing & attention to detail, something almost artistic but they dismiss it as pure speculation. no one takes it seriously until morrigan gets a little bored of the police making no real advancements in the chase (and she does love the chase) so she leaves ‘cherchez la femme’ at her next crime scene instead of the usual. maybe even starts leaving notes like that in the mailboxes of the officers & agents pursuing her. alistair, for example, who she’s already acquainted with; he was married to her close friend [x warden here], and kieran had been a surrogate before alistair’s wife died in a tragic accident. or, for added intrigue and bc i’m gay for morristair, they’re married.
